Ayurvedic Health Camp in Gandhinagar Wins Hearts Fast

RRU Ayurvedic Health Camp Delivers Trusted Care and Strong Health Awareness

Successful Completion of Ayurvedic Summer Health Camp for RRU Staff, Students, Residents of Lavad, Sampa & Nearby Areas

A Free Ayurvedic Summer Health Camp was held on Thursday, 30th April 2026, for the staff and students of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), residents of Lavad, Sampa and nearby areas, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor (VC), RRU. The camp was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro VC, RRU; Dr Dharmesh D. Prajapati, Registrar (I/c); Dr Jasbir Kaur Thadhani, University Dean (I/c); and Prof. (Dr.) Priyanka Sharma, Dean, EDLD. Nearly 200 participants, including staff, students, residents of Lavad and Sampa, and visitors from nearby areas, benefitted from the camp.

This event was a joint effort by the Extension & Distance Learning Directorate (EDLD) and the Medical Team of the Health & Safety Branch (HSB), RRU. The camp was led by Dr Rakesh N. Bhatt, Medical Superintendent (Vaidh Panchkarm) of the Government Ayurveda Hospital, Sector 22, Gandhinagar, alongside his dedicated team. Such collaborations between academic bodies and public health teams are often seen as a strong way to bring healthcare closer to communities, especially in semi-urban and rural areas where access to specialised care can be limited.

During the event, the Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic professionals:

Conducted patient examinations and health assessments

Provided personalised consultations based on individual health needs

Raised awareness about Ayurvedic treatments and their benefits

Distributed Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines to participants and patients

Experts widely note that Ayurveda focuses on treating the root cause of illness rather than just the symptoms. Many studies published in Indian medical journals highlight that personalised care, based on body type, can improve long-term health outcomes. Health camps like this often help people who may not visit hospitals regularly, giving them a chance to understand their health in simple ways.

The camp witnessed active participation from RRU students, staff, and residents of Lavad, Sampa and nearby areas, who benefitted from free Ayurvedic consultations and personalised health guidance based on individual body constitution (Prakriti). In Ayurveda, Prakriti refers to a person’s natural body type, which plays a key role in how the body reacts to food, weather and stress. Research from Ayurveda institutions shows that understanding Prakriti can help in planning better diets and daily routines.

Participants received expert advice on seasonal care (Ritucharya) to manage summer-related concerns such as heat stress, dehydration, digestive issues and skin ailments. Doctors often stress that summer in regions like Gujarat can lead to common problems like fatigue, acidity and skin rashes due to high temperatures. Ayurveda suggests simple steps such as drinking more fluids, eating light meals and avoiding excessive heat exposure. These practices are backed by modern health advice as well, showing a useful link between traditional and current medical knowledge.

The initiative also emphasised immunity enhancement through natural herbs and remedies, along with practical guidance on a balanced diet, hydration and daily lifestyle practices (Dinacharya). Herbs like Tulsi, Ashwagandha and Giloy are commonly recommended in Ayurveda for boosting immunity. Many studies have explored their role in improving resistance against infections and reducing stress. Along with this, daily habits such as proper sleep, regular meals and physical activity are known to improve overall well-being.

The camp helped in spreading awareness about preventive healthcare, stress management and holistic wellness, encouraging participants to adopt sustainable and natural approaches for long-term health. Preventive healthcare is becoming more important in India, especially as lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and hypertension continue to rise. Experts often point out that early awareness and simple lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of serious illness. Programmes like this camp play a key role in sharing that message with the public.

Through initiatives like the Ayurvedic camp, RRU reflects its continued commitment to community well-being and the promotion of Indian Knowledge Systems for a healthier society. Many universities across India are now taking similar steps to connect education with public health outreach, making sure that knowledge reaches beyond classrooms. This approach also helps build trust between institutions and local communities.

We express our gratitude to all who attended and contributed to making this camp a huge success.
