After breaking into the OTT space with the web series Farzi, Shahid Kapoor stated that his upcoming film Bloody Daddy was crafted with the intention of replicating the theatre-going experience on the streaming service.
Shahid Kapoor revealed that his upcoming film “Bloody Daddy” was made with the intention of delivering a cinematic experience via an over-the-top (OTT) service.
The crime thriller, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, will debut on JioCinema on June 9 as a digital exclusive. Shahid Kapoor, who made his first foray into over-the-top media with the Prime Video series “Farzi,” has stated that he believes over-the-top media and traditional cinema to be “two very good options” for filmmakers.
Our difficulty lies in deducing the causes of these changes in the environment. We need to adjust and evaluate which content is viable on each device and display size. That’s something we should all strive for.
The release of this film has been eagerly anticipated by many. According to the 42-year-old actor’s statement, Many distributors and exhibitors called us about it, but we stuck to what we truly had envisioned for this film, which was creating a big screen experience for the OTT platform.”
Kapoor, alongside Zafar and Himanshu Kishan Mehra, addressed the audience at the ‘Bloody Daddy trailer presentation.
During the course of one fatal night, Sumair (Kapoor) must contend with the white-collar drug lords of Gurugram, his own dishonest buddies, a vicious crime boss, murderous narcs, and crooked and honest police officers.
There are also significant roles for Diana Penty, Sanjay Kapoor, Ronit Roy, and Rajeev Khandelwal.
Having directed films like “Sultan,” “Tiger Zinda Hai,” and “Bharat,” Zafar believes that OTT has “quite huge” visibility and penetration for a narrative and a star.
“As a filmmaker, your ultimate goal is to have your work seen. Furthermore, OTT attracts a sizable audience. He emphasised the private nature of the content being viewed on this site.
Zafar emphasised that just because the film is being made for an OTT service does not mean that the production value has suffered.
Because of the increasingly global nature of OTT audiences, “the content you’re bringing on OTT platform needs to look more international,” says one creator. It also requires a compelling cause to be made available via over-the-top (OTT) services. The director has also stated that the film’s cinematic language played an important role in the choice to release the movie.
When compared to a film shown in a theatre, the cinematic language used on an OTT platform is distinct. There is violence, blood, and explicit language in this film, all of which relate to the central theme of drug use.
And that was crucial because it provided a foundation for the characters within the setting. Changing those details would have been dishonest to the story as a whole. I would have suggested going to the movies. So Shahid and I were very explicit, “Let’s go 100% realistic with this movie, and let’s make it for OTT,” Zafar remarked.
In “Bloody Daddy,” Kapoor says he gave himself over to Zafar’s idea since he finally had the chance to shoot an all-out action scene.
I told Ali, “You’ve been making action films for a long time, and all your actors have great bodies. Treat me the same way. Ali deserves all the praise. He knows how to deliver exciting scenes that feel like they were taken straight from a movie set rather than an amusement park. Of course, that can be used as well. The actor has spoken about his artistic preferences for “realistic, edgy, and sexy” action.
