Luxe event designer and founder of Chennai-based Company, The A-Cube Project, Ambika Gupta has always been in the limelight for her fairy-tale celebrity weddings for clients like Kajal Aggarwal, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Nikki Galrani as well as personalized and artistic themes. Her design stories range from Impressionist painters to the floating flower markets of Kashmir to RK Narayan’s ‘Malgudi Days’ and always stays true to the vision of her clients.
Her latest triumph is an Indo-French wedding in Udaipur that was quirkily titled ‘Pyaar in Paris’. Ambika shares, “Paris was the bride’s favourite destination and the couple wanted the nuances and the energy of the city woven in the design. We designed and created triangular canopies with precise dimensions to closely resemble the Louvre Museum. The couple took their pheras under a Louvre-inspired Mandap. But we also had traditional chandeliers, customized diya jaalis, a wallpaper with ornate motifs, and waterbodies with fountains for an Indian twist.”
Ambika says there were challenges along the way as the theme had never been executed before and adds, “There was a lot of technical planning involved but then my team and I like to push creative boundaries. With the right client, a lot of new design ideas can be explored. A wedding is no longer meant to be just an event but a story and ‘Love at Lourve’ may just be the latest, once-in-a-lifetime wedding story I have designed, but there will always be another unique one to inspire me.”
