DGR Job Fair helps soldiers find second career success

The Directorate General of Resettlement, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, held a Job Fair for ESM of Armed Forces at Ahmedabad Military Station, Ahmedabad (Guj) to provide a common platform for ESM/retiring personnel looking for work and corporate entities. The ESM from Ahmedabad and the surrounding areas responded to the event hugely. More than 1100 ESM from the Army, Navy, and Air Force attended the event and registered to look for work. There were over 1000 job openings at the Job Fair, with 50 employers physically participating and 70 companies registering.
After being interviewed and screened, the selected ESM would be hired for a variety of positions, including directors, technical support, supervisory, junior to senior management, and administration.
Corporations and the ESM both benefited from the event. The Corporates benefited from screening the pool of seasoned, disciplined, and capable ESM, while the ESM had a platform to demonstrate the technical and administrative skills they had developed over their years in service.
Reputable national and international corporate entities were represented at the job fair.
ESM and corporate representatives were addressed by Maj Gen Gaurav Bagga, GOC 11 RAPID, and Cmde Vikrant Kishore, Principal Director, DGR.
As the Corporate Guest of Honour, Mr Vimal Ambani, the CEO and MD of Tower Overseas Ltd. and the former Chairman of the Gujarat State Council’s CII, spoke to the audience.
Additionally, in attendance were Mr. Himanshu Patel, Senior Vice President of the Vadodara Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Mr. Apurva Shah, Senior Vice President of GCCI; Mr. Pathik Patwari, Director of Nexus Group & former President of GCCI; and Col. Vijay Pandey, Head of Security, Adani Power & AESL.
