Director Milan Luthria Turns Lyricist for New Song in Hotstar’s ‘Sultan Of Delhi

In a delightful twist, famous director Milan Luthria has taken on a new role as a lyricist for the upcoming series “Sultan Of Delhi” on Hotstar. The series is all set to charm audiences with a beautiful song called “Saaqiya,” which combines romance and Sufi music.

The song, “Saaqiya,” is a special addition to the series, and Zee Music is presenting it. It’s sung by the versatile Javed Ali and features lyrics written by Milan Luthria himself. The music for the song is created by the talented duo, Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur.

This series, based on Arnab Ray’s book “Sultan of Delhi: Ascension,” is produced by Reliance Entertainment. Milan Luthria directs the series, with co-direction and co-writing by Suparn Verma. The show boasts a star-studded cast, including Tahir Raj Bhasin, Anjumm Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Nishant Dahiya, Anupriya Goenka, Mouni Roy, Harleen Sethi, and Mehreen Pirzada.

Milan Luthria shared his excitement about adding music to the series and the joy of writing lyrics for the first time. He mentioned that “Saaqiya” is his way of paying homage to the timeless world of Sufi music that he loves. The collaboration with Sangeet Siddharth and Javed Ali was a great experience, with Javed Ali recording the song twice to ensure it was just right.

“Sultan Of Delhi” is scheduled to exclusively stream on Disney+ Hotstar from October 13, 2023.
