DPS Bopal Hosts Srijan 2026 with 850 Students From 34 Schools

DPS Bopal’s Srijan 2026 Brings 850 Students From 34 Ahmedabad Schools Together

Around 850 students from 34 schools across Ahmedabad took part in Srijan 2026 at Delhi Public School, Bopal on August 22, turning the annual inter-school event into a full day of competitions in art, literature, mathematics, technology, culture and performance.

The event gave school students a chance to compete outside their own campuses while working on activities that required speaking, problem-solving, design, performance and technical skills. Delhi Public School, Bopal is a CBSE-affiliated senior secondary school in Ahmedabad and has been operating since 1996.

The programme began with an inaugural ceremony featuring a cultural presentation centred on India’s diversity and shared heritage. Students, teachers, judges and guests attended the opening session.

Principal Sabina Sawhney welcomed the participating schools and spoke about the role of competition in a student’s education. She said, “Winning and losing are both a part of our journey. While victory gives us confidence, defeat teaches us valuable lessons and inspires us to work harder.”

The range of contests was one of the main features of this year’s Srijan. Students competed in Kalayatan, Nrityanjali, Beat the Grandmaster, Book Jacket Designing, Oratoria, Working Math Model, Turant Tarang, Technovanza, Robowizard, DPS ka Chanakya, Kavyanjali, RJ/Travel Influencer, Gita Shlok Chanting and Kalarachna.

The activities covered subjects and skills that are often taught separately in classrooms. Chess tested strategic thinking, while working mathematical models required students to apply classroom concepts to physical projects. Book Jacket Designing and Kavyanjali focused on language and creative expression. Technovanza and Robowizard brought technology and coding into the competition.

This mix has also been part of earlier editions of Srijan. DPS Bopal’s records show that its 2025 edition included competitions such as Technovanza, Beat the Grand Master, Kalayatan and RoboWizards. The 2025 SrijanShree Rolling Trophy also went to Zydus School for Excellence, Godhavi.

The event has grown over recent years. The school’s 2023-24 annual report recorded 800 participants from 30 schools at Srijan 2023, with Maharaja Agrasen Vidyalaya winning the SrijanShree Trophy that year. In August 2024, the school reported 600 students from 32 schools taking part in Srijan.

The 2026 participation figure therefore represents a larger gathering than the numbers reported for the previous two editions. It also shows how inter-school events can bring students from different schools into the same setting for activities that require skills beyond written examinations.

For many of the contests, students had to present their work before judges. The judging panel assessed the entries and performances, with participants receiving feedback during the competitions. Such events can give students practice in explaining an idea clearly, responding to questions and working within a fixed time.

Technology was one of the areas given space at Srijan 2026. Robowizard and Technovanza required students to work with technology-based tasks, while Working Math Model connected mathematics with practical models. These activities reflect a wider shift in school education towards project work and application-based learning.

DPS Bopal itself says its teaching approach includes application-based learning, logical thinking, creativity and the use of technology in education. The school has an 11-acre campus and offers education from the preparatory level through Class XII.

The cultural competitions added another part to the programme. Nrityaanjali provided a platform for dance, while Gita Shlok Chanting and Kalayatan focused on Indian cultural traditions. Oratoria and Kavyanjali gave students opportunities to use spoken and written language before an audience.

The event also included the DPS Band during the closing award ceremony. The performance was followed by the presentation of the SRIJANSHREE Rolling Trophy.

Zydus School for Excellence-Godhavi won the trophy for its overall performance across the competitions. The school had also won the SrijanShree trophy in 2025, according to DPS Bopal’s published event records.

For the participating students, the competition offered a different form of assessment from regular school tests. A student taking part in a debate, for instance, must organise an argument and present it clearly. A student entering a robotics or mathematics competition has to explain how a model works. A cultural performance requires preparation, timing and confidence in front of an audience.

Srijan is part of DPS Bopal’s wider programme of inter-school activities. The school has hosted the event for several years, with past editions bringing together hundreds of students from schools across the city. Its official records also show that Srijan has included subjects ranging from science and technology to literature, art and performing arts.

The 2026 edition ended with the award ceremony and the presentation of the rolling trophy to Zydus School for Excellence-Godhavi. With 850 students from 34 schools taking part, the event continued DPS Bopal’s long-running effort to use inter-school competitions as part of student learning beyond the classroom.
