DPS Gandhinagar Prerna Award Ceremony 2025-26 Honours Students

DPS Gandhinagar Honours Student Achievement at Annual Prerna Awards Ceremony

Delhi Public School (DPS) Gandhinagar recognised the academic success, creativity and commitment of its students during its Annual Award Ceremony, titled “Prerna: A Never-Ending Saga”, held on Thursday for the 2025 to 2026 academic session.

Students from Pre-Primary to Senior Secondary received awards for academic performance, co-curricular activities and perfect attendance. The programme reflected the school’s continuing focus on recognising achievement in classrooms as well as participation in activities beyond academics.

The ceremony opened with a message inspired by former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, whose words, “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action,” have long been associated with encouraging young people to pursue education, scientific thinking and public service. Dr Kalam, often called the “People’s President”, consistently urged schools to help children develop curiosity, confidence and a sense of responsibility.

DPS Gandhinagar follows the motto “Service Before Self”, a guiding principle shared across the Delhi Public School Society, one of India’s largest networks of private schools. Established in 1949, the society today manages more than 200 schools in India and abroad. Along with academic learning, the organisation places importance on leadership, discipline, sports, arts and community service.

The awards reflected this wider approach. Students were recognised not only for securing strong academic results but also for their involvement in co-curricular activities and their record of full attendance throughout the academic year.

The school also marked its performance in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations for 2025 to 2026. According to figures announced during the event, Class X recorded a school average of 85.78 per cent, while Class XII achieved an average of 82.60 per cent.

CBSE is India’s largest national school education board and conducts examinations for thousands of affiliated schools across the country and overseas. Board examination results are widely used as one measure of academic performance, although education experts increasingly encourage schools to balance examination success with practical skills, creativity and student wellbeing.

Across India, many schools now place greater emphasis on recognising achievements in sports, performing arts, innovation, environmental projects and leadership alongside examination scores. This broader approach matches the goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages schools to support the overall development of students instead of focusing only on marks.

The chief guest at the function was Ms Shikha Choudhary, Founder of Cyber Commando, an organisation known for creating awareness about cyber safety and digital security. With online activity becoming part of daily life for children, schools across India have increased discussions on cyber awareness, responsible internet use and online safety.

The Guest of Honour, Dr Meva Ram Ola, Joint Commissioner in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), also addressed the gathering. Principal Ms Anju Singh and Headmaster Mr. Rakesh Kumar Bhagat welcomed both guests.

During their addresses, the guests encouraged students to set ambitious goals, face challenges with confidence and remain committed to honesty and hard work while pursuing success.

One of the programme’s most talked-about moments was “Pehchan”, an audiovisual presentation featuring students from Saaransh. The presentation focused on individuality, creativity and inclusion while sharing the journeys of participating students. It highlighted the school’s efforts to provide opportunities for children with different abilities and learning needs, reflecting a wider movement in Indian education towards inclusive classrooms.

Inclusive education has received growing attention in recent years through government policies and educational reforms that encourage schools to provide equal learning opportunities for all students, regardless of physical, intellectual or developmental differences.

Parents and guests also watched cultural performances presented by students from different grades. Music, dance and stage presentations formed an important part of the programme and offered students another platform to display their skills. Educators widely recognise such activities as helping children develop communication skills, confidence and teamwork.

As award winners were called to the stage, parents, teachers and fellow students applauded their achievements, creating a celebratory atmosphere throughout the event.

School leaders used the occasion to reaffirm their aim of preparing students who contribute positively to society through learning, leadership and community service. The message reflected a wider trend among Indian schools to combine academic learning with values-based education and social responsibility.

Annual recognition ceremonies remain an important tradition in many schools because they acknowledge consistent effort as well as outstanding performance. Education specialists have noted that recognising student achievement can encourage motivation, strengthen confidence and inspire younger students to work towards their own goals.

The event concluded with a message encouraging students to continue learning with dedication while following the school’s guiding principle of “Service Before Self.” For many of the students receiving honours, the ceremony marked the end of one academic milestone and the beginning of new goals for the year ahead.
