Gujarat Development Politics Sparks Hope in Amreli
Gujarat Development Politics Brings Strong Growth and Public Trust in Amreli
The Gujarat BJP Media Department press note says that Gujarat BJP President Shri Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma spoke at a Vikas Sankalp Sabha in support of BJP candidates at Liliya in Amreli district. Large public meetings like this are common during elections in Gujarat, where leaders directly speak to people about development work and plans.
In his speech, Shri Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel have kept aside casteism, regionalism, and community-based politics, and have given priority to development. Over the years, Gujarat has seen steady growth in roads and village connectivity. Government data and reports show that most villages are now linked by all-weather roads, which helps farmers, school children, and small businesses move easily.
He said that today, in more than 16,000 villages of Gujarat, there is not a single village without road connectivity, and the road infrastructure has become strong. Better roads also help transport goods faster and improve access to health and education services in rural areas.
He said that everyone remembers the condition of Gujarat and Saurashtra 25 years ago. At that time, water had to be brought by train in some dry regions. This reflects how serious water scarcity once was in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, where rainfall is low, and drought is common.
He said that the Congress did not allow the Sardar Sarovar Dam to be completed for 60 years. The Sardar Sarovar Dam is one of India’s largest water projects and is often called the lifeline of Gujarat. It supplies drinking water to thousands of villages and towns and helps irrigate a very large area of land.
Narendra Modi, who was then Chief Minister and is now Prime Minister, kept writing letters to the central government to increase the height of the dam and struggled to bring water to Saurashtra and Kutch. Today, the dam’s canal network reaches thousands of villages and has helped reduce water shortage in many dry areas. Reports show that it provides water to over 9,000 villages and many towns in Gujarat.
He added that even when a Chief Minister sat on a fast for the rights of his people, the Congress did not show any concern. When Shri Narendra Modi came to power as Prime Minister for the first time, he gave approval to install the gates of the Sardar Sarovar Dam in just 17 days. The project later reached near full irrigation capacity, with over 17 lakh hectares of land now getting water through its canal system.
He said the people have given him the chance to serve as Prime Minister not once, but three times. The power of one vote has been felt by the people through welfare work, development, and strong security measures. He said one vote can defeat terrorism, lead to surgical and air strikes, and help bring water and basic services to people.
He criticised the Congress and said that during its rule, there was large-scale migration from Saurashtra. Water shortage and lack of farming support were major reasons for migration in the past. Today, with better irrigation, farmers in many areas are able to take more than one crop in a year. Studies on irrigation projects show that improved water supply has increased farm output and rural income in Gujarat.
He said the Congress only made false promises, committed corruption, and misled the people. He added that today, thousands of BJP candidates are contesting elections across the state, but the Congress does not have enough candidates. Many have even withdrawn their nomination forms.
He said that through various schemes, historic work has been done to fill check dams and ponds in Saurashtra. Projects like the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation scheme help move water from big dams to local reservoirs, which improves groundwater levels and supports farming.
To help farmers, the state government announced a relief package of ₹10,000 crore during heavy and unseasonal rains, and also made purchases worth ₹15,000 crore at support prices. Such support helps farmers manage losses during bad weather and maintain income.
He added that earlier, women had to carry water on their heads from far places, but now water is being supplied to every home through the ‘Nal Se Jal’ scheme. Access to tap water has improved daily life, especially in rural areas, where women and children previously spent hours collecting water.
He further said that today, not only Gujarat but the whole country has 24-hour electricity. Solar energy is also growing fast. Gujarat has taken early steps in solar projects, including installing panels over canals to save space and reduce water loss.
By installing solar panels, lakhs of families have reduced their electricity bills, and more than 11 lakh solar panels have been installed in the state. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, crores of toilets have been built, improving sanitation and health.
Under the Ujjwala scheme, women have been freed from smoke and given free gas connections. Under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, farmers receive ₹6,000 every year, which helps them manage basic farming costs.
Shri Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma appealed to people to vote in large numbers in favour of the BJP and expressed confidence that people will support development and give a big victory to all the BJP candidates in the coming elections.
On this occasion, Congress leader from Liliya taluka, Shri Jivrajbhai, joined the BJP along with hundreds of his supporters, inspired by its ideology, in the presence of State President Shri Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma. Such political shifts are often seen during election time when leaders and workers change parties based on local support and strategy.
At the event, State Minister Shri Kaushikbhai Vekariya, District President Shri Atulbhai Kanani, District In-charge Shri Abhaybhai Chauhan, MP Shri Bharatbhai Sutariya, MLAs, local organisation office bearers, senior leaders, workers, and supporters were present in large numbers, showing strong political mobilisation in the region.
