IndusAcX Summit 2025 Marks a Bold Shift in Legal Education

Dhirubhai Ambani University School of Law (DAU SoL) on Saturday hosted the IndusAcX Summit 2025: The Industry–Academia Exchange at its Gandhinagar campus. The event brought together over 200 leading voices from the legal profession, industry, policymaking and academia.
Such large gatherings are becoming important in India’s legal education space, especially as the country’s economy grows and laws become more complex. Today, legal professionals are expected to understand not just law books but also business, technology, public policy and social change. Events like IndusAcX give experts a shared space to talk openly about real problems faced by courts, companies and government bodies, and to explore how education can better prepare professionals for these challenges.
Held as part of Dhirubhai Ambani University’s silver jubilee celebrations, the Summit was conceived as a flagship national platform to promote meaningful collaboration between industry and academia, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The idea of closer ties between universities and industry has gained strong support across India in recent years. Policymakers often stress that classrooms must reflect real-world needs. The Viksit Bharat 2047 vision speaks about building a skilled, ethical and future-ready workforce. In this context, platforms like IndusAcX help bridge the gap between theory and practice by allowing academics to learn from industry experience, while professionals gain insights from research and long-term thinking.
The Summit also marked the completion of the first year of operations of the Dhirubhai Ambani University School of Law (DAU SoL), India’s only law school exclusively dedicated to Executive and Continuous Interdisciplinary Legal Education. The School focuses on capacity building for working professionals through industry-aligned Executive Development Programmes (EDPs), as well as LLM and PhD programmes across emerging legal and regulatory domains.
Executive legal education is still a growing field in India. Many senior professionals seek flexible learning options that allow them to upgrade skills without leaving their jobs. DAU SoL’s focus on executive programmes reflects a wider shift towards lifelong learning, especially in areas like corporate law, compliance, technology law, forensic studies and public policy. These fields are changing fast due to digital growth, new regulations and global standards.
IndusAcX Summit 2025 brought together senior advocates from the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts, industry leaders, policymakers and academics from across the country. The Summit was inaugurated by Justice Hemant Prachchhak of the Gujarat High Court. Dr GK Goswami IPS (Retd.), Founding Director of Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS), Lucknow, was the special guest of honour.
The presence of senior judges and experienced police and forensic experts added depth to the discussions. Judges bring practical insights into how laws are applied in real courtrooms, while forensic experts highlight the growing role of science and technology in investigations. Their participation underlined the need for lawyers and policymakers to understand evidence, digital tools and forensic processes, which are now central to modern justice systems.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr Avinash Dadhich, Founding Director of Dhirubhai Ambani University School of Law, said, “IndusAcX Summit 2025 was conceived as a platform where industry experience and academic rigour could meaningfully intersect. The response we received from the legal fraternity, industry and policymakers reaffirms the need for such structured dialogue to address contemporary legal and regulatory challenges.”
Such dialogue is vital at a time when India is seeing rapid changes in areas like data protection, financial regulation, environmental law and corporate governance. Structured conversations help ensure that new laws are practical, fair and easy to implement. They also help universities design courses that reflect current needs rather than outdated models.
The day-long programme featured 15 academic and industry panel discussions and research paper presentations, alongside a high-level industry conclave and a certificate presentation ceremony for participants of the School’s Executive Development Programmes.
Panel discussions allow experts to share different views on the same issue, which helps young researchers and professionals understand problems from many angles. Research paper sessions encourage evidence-based thinking and promote original ideas. Certificate ceremonies, meanwhile, recognise the efforts of professionals who invest time in learning, even while managing busy careers.
By enabling sustained engagement between industry and academia, IndusAcX 2025 reinforces DAU School of Law’s vision of developing institutionally grounded, practice-oriented legal and policy leadership for India’s next phase of economic and social growth.
