Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain, and current BCCI president has finally cleared the air a day after his post caused widespread confusion on social media. On Monday, he announced the establishment of a portal dedicated to assisting coaches and educators in a variety of disciplines.
Ganguly took to social media to share a message with all educators, teachers, and coaches, explaining the project and how it will help them progress in their vocations.
The BCCI President also posted a video in which he discusses the advantages of using the ‘Class plus’ smartphone application.
Ganguly had written a cryptic message earlier on Wednesday, which sparked rumours regarding his departure as BCCI President.
His Twitter statement on Wednesday afternoon contained enough components to stoke suspicion that he was retiring from cricket and entering politics.
“My adventure with cricket began in 1992, and it will be 30 years later in 2022. Cricket has given me a lot since then. Most significantly, it has provided me with the support of each and every one of you. I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who has been a part of my path, supported me, and assisted me in getting to where I am now.
Hours later, late on Wednesday, Ganguly stated unequivocally that his new business will be an educational software, not politics.
The former India captain also stated that his current contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India will not be affected by the new business (BCCI).
“The message was really a publicity stunt.” It is not in the cards for me to resign as President of the BCCI. He informed a segment of the media, “I’m going to establish a commercial instructional app, which will be my own venture.”
