Jan Aakrosh Yatra Roars for Rights

Epic Jan Aakrosh Yatra Shatters Silence on Corruption, Ignites People’s Power

The historical ‘Jan Aakrosh Yatra – Call for Change’ of the Gujarat Congress has completed its first phase of 1100 kilometres with huge public support at Becharaji.

The Gujarat Congress Yatra travelled through seven districts of North Gujarat. It covered 1100 kilometres, held 40 public meetings, and was welcomed at about 150 local places by organisations and people. The Yatra touched the hearts of lakhs of people.

  • The government’s treasury fills with the people’s taxes, but the same government is not ready to listen to the people’s voice: Mr Amit Chavda.
  • The doors of power in Gandhinagar are about to close, so unrest has spread within the government. People are now standing openly for their rights without fear: Mr Amit Chavda.
  • The second phase of the Jan Aakrosh Yatra will start from Phagvel at the temple of Bhatiji Maharaj and will gradually cover the entire state: Mr Amit Chavda.
  • No farmer’s life will improve with a package of ₹10,000 – unless loans are fully cancelled, farmers cannot stand again: Dr Tushar Chaudhary.
  • During the Yatra, farmers, women, educated unemployed youth, labourers, traders, and people from many communities expressed their pain and anger. We will continue the fight strongly to end their problems: Dr Tushar Chaudhary.

The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee started the 1100-kilometre ‘Jan Aakrosh Yatra – Call for Change’ from Dhima (Dharnidhar Temple) in North Gujarat, which ended successfully today at Becharaji in the presence of a large crowd under the blessings of Bahuchar Mata. People freely joined this Yatra at every stop. The strong anger of the public made it clear that after 30 years of misrule, arrogance, and dictatorship, change in Gujarat is now certain.

At the closing event, Shri Sachin Pilot, National General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and former Deputy Chief Minister, could not come to Gujarat due to technical problems at Delhi Airport that caused flight cancellations. However, he addressed the meeting online, saying that the heavy debt burden on farmers has broken their way of life, and a small package of ₹10,000 cannot help them.

In other states, Congress governments have cancelled farmers’ debts and given them justice. In Gujarat, the BJP government waives thousands of crores for its rich friends, while poor farmers struggle for their rights. He added that the anger of youth over low wages, farmers’ debts, tribal rights, and the spread of alcohol and drugs has shaken not only Gandhinagar but also the power in Delhi. Change in Gujarat is now unstoppable.

State Congress President Mr Amit Chavda said this battle is not for a party but for the rights and respect of the people. The people’s taxes fill the government’s treasury, but the same government refuses to hear their voice. That is why Congress started this Yatra. He said that when Congress raised people’s pain about the liquor and drugs menace during the Yatra, the government became restless because the wave of anger was reaching Gandhinagar. Now, people are not afraid. They stand openly for their rights, and this anger is turning into a strong mass movement.

Leader of the Legislative Congress Party, Dr Tushar Chaudhary, said that during 13 days of travel covering 1100 kilometres, thousands of farmers met directly. It became clear that a ₹10,000 package will not solve any problem – unless the loans are fully waived, farmers cannot recover. The cost of farming is increasing, market prices are low, compensation is small, and the government ignores the people’s suffering. This anger is therefore natural. Congress is leading this anger with wisdom and strength.

All the Congress leaders at the event said that when the Congress earlier held the Farmer Rights Yatra from Somnath to Dwarka across 11 districts of Saurashtra, it became clear that not only farmers, but also unemployed youth, women facing corruption and safety issues, and families suffering from liquor and drug abuse are filled with anger.

To give a strong voice to that anger, the Jan Aakrosh Yatra started from Dhima Dharnidhar and has now completed its first 1100-kilometre phase at Becharaji. The Yatra will have five phases in total. The next phase will start from Phagvel in Central Gujarat, and later move to South Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch.

The Gujarat Congress Yatra passed through seven districts of North Gujarat, held 40 meetings, had about 150 welcome points by local organisations and people, and reached lakhs of citizens on its 1100-kilometre journey.

Against the dictatorial rule of the BJP, the Gujarat Congress has resolved that:

  • We will fight decisively to cancel all farmers’ loans.
  • We will give permanent jobs to Gujarat’s youth and end the system of fixed pay and contracts.
  • We will completely eliminate liquor and drugs from Gujarat.
  • We will help Gujarat’s homemakers get relief from inflation.
  • We will send corrupt people in Gujarat to jail.

This Jan Aakrosh Yatra will continue from the streets to the Assembly and from the Assembly to Parliament – until every citizen of Gujarat gets justice, respect, and rights.

At the closing event of the first phase, former State President and Central Minister Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, former MP Dr Amiben Yagnik, AICC Minister and State Co-incharge Mrs Subhashiniben Yadav, AICC Seva Dal Chairman Shri Laljibhai Desai, AICC Minister Shri Rutvikbhai Makwana, State Congress Working President Shri Indravijaysinh Gohil, MLAs Shri Jignesh Mevani, Shri Dinesh Thakor, Shri Vimal Chudasama, Shri Amrutji Thakor, Mehsana District President Shri Baldevji Thakor, former MLAs Shri Punjabhai Vansh, Shri Lakhabhai Bharwad, Shri Babuji Thakor, Shri Chandanji Thakor, Shri Naushadbhai Solanki, Shri Bharatji Thakor, Shri Rajeshbhai Gohil, State Mahila Congress President Mrs Gitaben Patel, and many district, city, and taluka Congress leaders were present. The closing meeting of the first phase of the Jan Aakrosh Yatra was hosted by Shri Himanshubhai Patel.
