Jignesh Barot (Kaviraj) Joins Saregama Gujarati
All upcoming releases by the Gujarati folk icon will now be available exclusively on Saregama Gujarati, starting June 2025.
Big news for fans of Gujarati music! Saregama India, one of India’s oldest and most loved music companies, just signed a superstar deal with Jignesh Barot, a famous Gujarati folk singer. Starting June 2025, all of Barot’s new songs will come out only on Saregama Gujarati, a platform known for celebrating Gujarat’s music and culture.
Jignesh Barot, also called Kaviraj (which means “poet-king”), is a household name in Gujarat. His soulful voice and songs rooted in folk traditions have made him a hero in villages and cities alike. Until now, his music was released by Ekta Sound, a popular Gujarati music label. But now, Saregama Gujarati will take over his music releases, including his official YouTube channel and social media pages. This is one of the biggest deals ever in Gujarat’s music industry!

The partnership comes after Barot’s latest hit, “Madhro Darudo”, became a massive success. The song, featured in the 2024 Gujarati film Hahacar, broke records on streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube. Fans loved its catchy beats, traditional lyrics, and Barot’s emotional singing. Many called it the “song of the year” for Gujarati cinema.
Saregama has a 100-year history of promoting Indian music, from old Hindi classics to regional hits. By bringing Jignesh Barot onboard, they aim to preserve Gujarat’s folk culture while making it popular globally. Kartik Kalla, Saregama’s Vice President of Music, said: “Jignesh isn’t just a singer – he’s the heartbeat of Gujarat. Together, we’ll create music that honours our roots and connects with today’s listeners.”
Fans can expect new folk songs, festive tracks, and even modern remixes starting mid-2025. Saregama plans to share Barot’s music on apps like Gaana, JioSaavn, and Instagram Reels, making it easy for young fans to enjoy his work.
This deal isn’t just about music – it’s about keeping Gujarat’s traditions alive. Barot’s songs often talk about love, farming, and festivals, themes close to Gujarati hearts. With Saregama’s support, his music could reach Gujarati communities worldwide, from the U.S. to East Africa.
For now, fans are excitedly waiting for June 2025. As one fan tweeted: “Finally, all Kaviraj’s magic in one place!”
