Plane Crash: Their joyful selfie captured moments before the ill-fated flight AI171 took off.
The plane crash on Thursday, June 12, 2025, saw a catastrophic plane disaster in Ahmedabad. Flight AI171, an Air India jet headed for Gatwick, London, England, had artificial intelligence. But just a short while after it started, something went terribly wrong. A large Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, the jet, crashed close to a populated area of the city. Almost everyone on board, as well as some of those on the ground, lost their lives in this terrible incident.
There were 242 people on the plane. That’s a lot of people! The aircraft carried 230 passengers in addition to 12 crew members, who worked on it. Sadly, just one individual survived among all those others. Right now, he is in the hospital receiving treatment. Other persons on the ground suffered or perished as the plane crashed into buildings, including a medical student housing. That day, about 260 individuals died overall.

Among the numerous tragic tales from this collision is one about an Indian family from Rajasthan. On that plane were Dr. Kaumi Vyas, her husband Pratik Joshi, and their three children. Their kids were Nakul Joshi, Pradyut Joshi, and Miraya Joshi. Twin brothers Pradyut and Nakul. This family came from the city of Banswara. Full of fresh opportunities and excitement, they were on their way to London to begin a new life together.
The father, Pratik Joshi, had been based in London. He returned all the way to India to permanently reside with his wife and kids. Imagine the thrill and delight they must have experienced preparing to at last be with each other in a foreign land, before the plane crash.

Pratik snapped a picture just before the jet lifted off. All five of them were grinning in this family selfie. Sitting close, Dr. Kaumi Vyas and Pratik had three children right next to them, also grinning for the camera. Dr. Kaumi had even posted this unique image on social media, most likely to show their friends and relatives their joyful trip. The picture was one of future promise. But all those aspirations were dashed just moments later when the aircraft crashed. Dreaming of a fresh life, the family of five sadly perished in the disaster.
Terrifying Story of the Sole Survivor
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh is one individual who survived this horrific tragedy despite the grief of the tragic plane crash. Forty years old, he is a British national. He was seeing his family in India for a brief vacation before returning to the UK with his 45-year-old brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh.
Vishwash had a seat in 11A. About thirty seconds after the plane took off the ground, he informed others, there was a really strong noise. The plane fell then. All of it happened quite quickly, he said. He was lucky to be alive; he suffered injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet.
He recalls waking up surrounded by dead bodies. He felt great fear. He got to his feet fast and fled the debris. Plane fragments were all around. Someone drove him to the Civil Hospital in Asarwa, Ahmedabad, where he is currently receiving treatment, after helping him get in an ambulance.
Vishwash said he has spent 20 years living in London, and his wife and child also call there home. Ajay, his brother, was seated differently on the aircraft. Concerned about his brother, Vishwash is looking for aid to locate him. For him, suffering such a tragedy and then not knowing where his loved one is is a really terrible position.
Very rapidly following the plane’s takeoff at 1:38 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025, was the crash. It ran into a residential area and collided with the BJ Medical College building’s intern’s house. This resulted in even more ground-based casualties or losses of life.
People flocked to the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad when word of it got out. Friends and relatives of people aboard the plane were searching feverishly for their loved ones. The hospital evolved into a site of great anguish and nervous waiting.
Among those looking was Sailesh Mandliya, seeking former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, who also travelled on that plane. The crash has profoundly affected the country and the local community.
Of the 230 passengers Air India revealed, 169 were Indian nationals, 53 were British nationals, seven were Portuguese, and one was Canadian. All with their own tales and motivations for travel, this demonstrates how people from many different locations were on the plane.
Investigators will now put great effort into determining precisely why this horrible crash occurred. Seeking to avoid such a catastrophe once more, they will examine every element to identify what went wrong. The victims and their families still take the front stage for now as they cope with this enormous loss.
This is one of the most tragic incidents that has happened till now in the history of plane crashes as more than 300 people have lost their lives at and near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on the sad of June 12, 2025
