Rashtriya Raksha University Defence Attachés Roundtable Brings 24 Nations Together

Rashtriya Raksha University Defence Attachés Roundtable Unites 24 Nations to Boost Aatmanirbhar Bharat Defence Innovation.

Rashtriya Raksha University Organises a Global Defence Attachés Roundtable to Boost International Strategic Alliances and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” On March 16, 2026, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance, successfully opened a historic two-day Roundtable Conference for Defence Attachés. With the topic “Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the Global Defence Tech Landscape: Accelerating Innovation, Exports, and Joint Technology Partnerships,” the conference brought together defence officials and diplomats from 24 countries, including those in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. The final date of the proceedings is set for March 17, 2026.

Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh’s Special Message: “India’s pursuit of ‘Aatmanirbharta’ is not just a domestic milestone but a global commitment to dependable, high-quality, and affordable security solutions.” We are encouraging our foreign partners to transcend the conventional buyer-seller dynamic by supporting indigenous innovation through venues such as this Roundtable. Our objective is to create a cooperative ecosystem of co-production and co-development that guarantees a safe, multipolar world while empowering developing countries. In order to enhance global peace and sovereignty, India is prepared to share its technology innovations.

Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor of RRU, gave a welcome speech to kick off the program. He emphasised the university’s function as a link between the world of ideas and implementation. He underlined that the meeting represents a “remarkable geography of partnership” with the goal of fostering communication among democratic countries in order to create a stable and prosperous future.

Dr. (Smt) Chandrika Kaushik, Director General at DRDO and Distinguished Scientist, gave the keynote presentation at the first session. Dr Kaushik emphasised how India has changed from being one of the biggest importers of defensive equipment in the world to a dependable producer and exporter. The Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, and Akash air defence systems are just a few of the battle-proven systems that India currently offers, she said.

A strategic blueprint for India’s defence exports was given by Ministry of Defence advisor Shri Yash Vardhan Patel. He disclosed that defence exports had increased dramatically from about ₹1,000 crore in 2014 to an estimated ₹30,000 crore in the fiscal year 2024–2025, to reach ₹50,000 crore by 2029. He also emphasised the success of the iDEX initiative, which supports almost 20,000 startups in creating cutting-edge technologies like drones and quantum sensors.

Additionally, the workshop included viewpoints from eminent worldwide Guests of Honour, such as:

Mr Karlito Nunes, the ambassador of Timor-Leste to India; Mr M. Riaz Hamidullah, the high commissioner of Bangladesh to India; Mr Dharamkumar Seeraj, the high commissioner of Guyana; and Mr Mustapha Jawara, the high commissioner of the Gambia to India.

The international speakers conveyed a shared desire to strengthen defence relations with India. H.E. Mr Dharamkumar Seeraj expressed Guyana’s intention to increase defence technology and hardware collaboration through current credit lines with the Indian government. According to  H.E. Mr Mustapha Jawara, RRU is an essential partner for providing personnel from The Gambia with expert training in cyber defence and internal security.

Specialised sessions on legislative reforms, public-private partnerships, and expedited acquisition procedures are all part of the two-day event. In order to see firsthand the domestic innovations powering India’s defence economy, participants will also tour university labs and a Defence Expo.

Rashtriya Raksha University’s dedication to promoting a cooperative framework for international security is reflected in the Roundtable. RRU continues to contribute to the global community’s overall stability by fusing academic brilliance with business and diplomatic involvement.
