Republic Day celebration at the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute inspires pride

Republic Day celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute honours service heroes

The 77th Republic Day was celebrated across India with pride and respect for the Constitution and the values of the nation. In the same spirit, a Republic Day programme was organised at the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute in Ahmedabad. The event reflected the national mood of unity and duty, and brought together officers, staff members, teachers and students under one roof to honour the country and its democratic journey.

The Republic Day celebrations at educational and training institutions play an important role in building awareness among young people and professionals about the meaning of the Constitution. Such programmes remind citizens that Republic Day marks the day when India adopted its Constitution in 1950 and became a sovereign, democratic republic. Observing this day in institutions like the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute helps connect learning with national responsibility and public service.

The national flag was hoisted by the Director General of the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, Shri Pravin Solanki (IAS). The act of flag hoisting is a key part of Republic Day celebrations across the country. It symbolises national unity, freedom and respect for the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. As the Tricolour was raised, all those present saluted the flag and sang the National Anthem together, creating a moment of shared pride and respect for the nation.

Singing the National Anthem during such ceremonies strengthens a sense of belonging and reminds people of their duties as citizens. It is a common practice in government offices, schools and institutions on national days, and it helps pass on patriotic values to younger generations. These traditions keep the spirit of the Republic alive in everyday public life.

During the programme, Shri Pravin Solanki extended his warm greetings to everyone on the occasion of Republic Day. In his address, he spoke with pride about India’s steady progress towards becoming a developed nation. His message reflected the broader national vision of growth, development and social responsibility. Leaders often use such occasions to remind citizens that development is not only about infrastructure, but also about honesty, hard work and shared responsibility.

He also called upon everyone to perform their duties as aware and responsible citizens. This message is especially important in today’s time, when active participation by citizens is needed for the success of democratic institutions. Simple acts such as following the law, respecting public property and contributing positively to society help strengthen the nation. Republic Day serves as a reminder that rights and duties go hand in hand.

As part of the Republic Day programme, five Home Guard personnel were honoured for their excellent service. The awards were presented by Shri Pravin Solanki in recognition of their dedication and hard work. Home Guards play a vital role in supporting the police and civil administration, especially during emergencies, public events and natural disasters. Recognising their service boosts morale and highlights the importance of discipline and selfless duty.

Honouring uniformed personnel during national celebrations is a long-standing tradition in India. It helps bring attention to the often unseen efforts of those who work to maintain safety and order in society. Such recognition also inspires others to serve the community with commitment and sincerity.

The programme was attended by the Administrative Officer of the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, Smt Anitaben Patel, along with teachers and students of the institute. Their presence showed the collective involvement of the institution in national celebrations. Educational institutes play a key role in shaping responsible citizens, and participation in such events helps students understand the real meaning of citizenship beyond textbooks.

The Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute is known for its work in labour education, training and research. Celebrating Republic Day within the institute reflects its commitment to national values, social justice and inclusive growth. Events like these help connect the institute’s academic work with the broader goals of the nation.

Overall, the Republic Day celebration at the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute was a meaningful and respectful event. It combined tradition, recognition of service and a message of responsibility in a simple yet powerful manner. Such programmes, held across the country, continue to keep the spirit of the Republic strong and remind citizens of their shared role in building a better and more developed India.
