Venus Group to Fund Education Costs for Children of Support Staff
Venus Group has announced a new education programme that will pay the annual education costs of children of its support staff, covering students between the ages of 2 and 21.
Named “Live it Now”, the programme will cover tuition fees as well as hostel, travel and food costs, according to the company. The Ahmedabad-based real estate group said the programme will initially focus on children of its own support staff before being extended to people outside the organisation.
For families working in lower-paid support roles, education costs can become difficult to manage as children move from school to college. Fees are only one part of the expense. Transport, food, accommodation and other costs can add to the yearly bill, particularly when a student has to leave home for further education.
Data cited by UNICEF from the National Sample Survey’s 2017-18 education expenditure study shows that households in urban India spent considerably more on children studying in private schools than on those attending government schools. The same data shows wide differences in education spending between states and income groups, with Gujarat among the states where household spending on school education was comparatively higher.
The Venus programme is therefore aimed at a specific group within the company: the children of its support staff. The company has not disclosed the number of children who will receive assistance or the total amount it has set aside for the programme.
Under “Live it Now”, Venus Group said eligible children will receive annual funding for their education. The stated age range of 2 to 21 years covers children at very different stages, from early schooling through higher education.
The programme also includes expenses that can become important as students move into senior classes, college or institutions away from their homes. Hostel and food costs, for example, can make higher education more expensive for families even when tuition fees are manageable.
Education is an accepted area for corporate social responsibility spending in India. Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013 includes the promotion of education and employment-related vocational skills among activities that companies can undertake through CSR programmes.
Several Indian companies have also adopted programmes aimed specifically at the children of their support staff. KPMG India, for example, says its education programme for housekeeping and security staff extends assistance to their children from school through college. SunTec’s CSR programme has provided school kits and scholarships to children of support staff, including students from school level through postgraduate studies.
Venus Group’s programme follows this broader corporate practice, while putting the company’s own workforce at the centre of the first phase.
Speaking about the programme, Mr Vineet Vaswani, Director, Venus Group, said: “Education is the real estate of one’s life. It is an asset that appreciates with time and creates opportunities not only for an individual, but for an entire family and, ultimately, for the nation. With “Live it Now”, we wanted to begin with our own Venus family, but our vision is much larger. We want this initiative to grow beyond our immediate beneficiaries and reach those who can benefit from an opportunity, support and the chance to build a better future.”
The company said the next stages of “Live it Now” could include programmes covering education and welfare outside its own workforce. No details have yet been announced about the number of outside beneficiaries, locations or the amount that could be spent on such programmes.
The announcement comes as Venus Group marks more than three decades in Ahmedabad’s real estate market. The company says its history dates back 35 years and includes projects such as Venus Atlantis, Stratum at Venus Grounds and Venus Pashmina. Its current portfolio also includes The Planet, Venus Deshna and The Universe.
Venus’s current project listings place The Planet on Club O7 Road in Shela and Venus Deshna in Naranpura. The Planet is listed as a residential development with 512 units, while Venus Deshna has 208 units. The Universe, the group’s newer development in Nehru Nagar, was introduced in July 2026 and includes premium four-bedroom residences and other larger residential formats.
The Venus Group has also placed environmental standards among its current property projects. Its website lists Stratum at Venus Grounds as an IGBC Platinum-rated building and The Planet as an IGBC Pre-Certified Platinum project.
Those property developments form the commercial side of the group. “Live it Now” places attention on a different part of the organisation: the families of people who work behind the scenes in its offices and properties.
For the families covered by the programme, the practical value will depend on how many children are enrolled, the level of annual funding and how long each student can receive assistance. Those details have not been made public.
The company says the education programme will continue annually and that its wider plans will reach beyond its own employees’ families. For now, the first beneficiaries will be children whose parents are part of Venus Group’s support workforce.
That makes the September 12 announcement a relatively focused CSR programme, with education costs placed at its centre. The longer-term test will be whether the programme grows, how many students it reaches and whether Venus publishes details of its spending and results as it expands.
