RRU helps Sri Lanka strengthen national security skills

Newz Daddy Educational Updates

Sri Lankan police made a calculated trip to Bharat and stopped by RRU to improve their knowledge of national security.
Twenty senior Sri Lankan police officers, all ranked Deputy Inspector General (DIG) or higher, made a strategic exposure tour to Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Dehgam, Gujarat, India, on July 7, 2025, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Insights into the role of RRU and its contributions to bolstering national security in Bharat (India) were given to Sri Lankan authorities during the visit, which was arranged as part of India’s continuing development cooperation with Sri Lanka. This project was entirely supported by the Government of India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), demonstrating India’s dedication to building institutional ties and advancing regional security cooperation.

The initiative, which was carried out by RRU, a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Institution of National Importance, aimed to highlight the university’s proficiency in internal and national security research, training, and education. The purpose of the visit was to promote cooperation and information sharing between the two countries in the vital area of security. Strong bilateral connections between India and Sri Lanka, as well as their shared dedication to regional stability and cooperation, are demonstrated by the exposure visit.

The first part of the tour, which was planned for July 7 and 8, 2025, included in-depth conversations with RRU faculty. These workshops addressed a number of important topics, such as leadership development, the use of contemporary policing technologies, cybercrime investigation methods, counterterrorism measures, best practices in policing, and jail administration procedures.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Registrar, Dr. Dharmeshkumar Prajapati, University Dean, Dr. Jasbirkaur Thadhani, and Director of the International Cooperation & Relations Branch, Mr. Ravish Sha, were among the important RRU officials who attended the visit. The visit demonstrated RRU’s dedication to promoting global cooperation and exchanging knowledge in the area of national security.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of RRU Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra stressed the importance of the visit in his welcoming speech. According to him, the purposeful visit of Sri Lankan police officers will enable them to comprehend the university’s vision and mission as well as how it differs from other conventional universities in the country. He also wished the authorities a warm welcome and expressed optimism for improved ties in a number of areas.

On the other hand, Dr. Neerja Gotru, IPS, DGP, and Chairman of the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board & Training, talked about a pilot project between the Gujarat Police and RRU and shared her knowledge of counterterrorism tactics. The significance of bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka was emphasized by Mr. Yagama Indika De’Silva, Sri Lanka’s defense attaché.

Sri Lankan officials had the chance to learn more about RRU’s operational framework and its contributions to national security during the visit. By emphasizing the university’s unique approach in comparison to other academic institutions, the conversations with faculty members sought to promote a deeper grasp of the institution’s vision and goals.

The Sri Lankan delegation will visit New Delhi from July 9–11, 2025, to meet with important Indian law enforcement and internal security organizations that are part of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Security Guard (NSG), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Border Security Force (BSF), the Delhi Police, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are some of these organizations. This stage seeks to promote genuine cooperation and information sharing across a range of security and law enforcement domains.

Senior officials’ visit to RRU demonstrates a dedication to improving the Sri Lankan police force’s skills and efficacy by exposing them to cutting-edge training techniques and global best practices.
The Sri Lankan authorities’ visit to RRU gave them a great chance to learn about contemporary policing techniques and technology, which promoted cooperation and information exchange between the two countries.
