Speedskating Stars Lead Adani Academy to 43 SGFI Medals

Adani Sportsline Academy Skaters win 43 Medals at SGFI District Tournament

Young speedskaters from Adani Sportsline Academy returned from the 2026 School Games Federation of India (SGFI) District Roller Skating Tournament with 43 medals, including 15 gold, 18 silver and 10 bronze.

The result marks a sizeable increase from the academy’s 28 medals at the same level last year. Its 2025 tally included 10 gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals. The latest total is about 54 per cent higher than the previous year’s figure.

The results came from competitions in inline and quad skating across several age groups. The skaters represented Ahmedabad, Himmatnagar and Gandhinagar districts, giving the tournament a local focus while also showing the number of young athletes taking part in organised skating competitions in Gujarat.

Three Under-17 quad skaters produced the strongest individual results. Kashvi Panchal, Parth Shah and Rahi Joshi each won gold in all three of their events: the 500-metre, 1,000-metre and 3,000-metre road races.

For each of the three skaters, that meant three gold medals from three events.

The medal list also included four silver medals each for Pahal Salunke, Nivan Khalas and Rehanshi Shah. Naksh Prajapati collected medals in different events, finishing with gold, silver and bronze.

The results add to a pattern seen in the academy’s recent speed skating programme. During the 2025-26 season, Adani Sportsline Academy athletes won 98 medals across speed skating, skateboarding, tennis and basketball in district, state and national competitions. Speed skating accounted for 77 of those medals, including 23 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze.

The SGFI competition sits within India’s school sports system, where skating is among the disciplines contested by students from states and other participating units. SGFI records show Gujarat taking part in skating competitions across age groups, including Under-11, Under-14 and Under-17 categories for boys and girls.

For young skaters, district competitions can be an important stage before higher-level school sporting events. Athletes compete within age groups and disciplines, with results helping determine which competitors progress through the school sports structure.

Roller skating itself includes several forms of competition. Quad skating uses four wheels arranged in pairs, while inline skates have wheels placed in a single line. Speed events test acceleration, cornering and the ability to maintain pace over different distances. The 500m and 1,000m races require speed over relatively short distances, while longer road events demand greater control of pace and stamina.

The three-event wins by Panchal, Shah and Joshi therefore represent consistency across different race distances rather than a single strong finish.

The academy has previously used its skating facility at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park in Ahmedabad for competitions. Adani Sportsline said the facility has hosted district-level speed skating events, including Khel Mahakumbh competitions organised by the Sports Authority of Gujarat.

That wider sporting infrastructure matters because speed skating requires regular access to suitable tracks or rinks and trained coaching. Competitive skaters also need opportunities to race against athletes from outside their own training group.

Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer, Adani Sportsline, said, “This performance at the SGFI District Tournament is a strong reflection of the talent and discipline our speed skating academy continues to build. Every medal here represents months of training and commitment from our young athletes, and we are proud of what they have achieved. We remain committed to giving them the platform to grow further in the sport.”

The academy says its speedskating programme works with young athletes across Gujarat and provides structured coaching, dedicated coaching facilities and competition experience.

The latest district tournament results also show how the programme’s medal count has changed in a year. Gold medals rose from 10 to 15, while silver medals doubled from nine to 18. Bronze medals increased slightly from nine to 10.

That shift is worth noting because the overall increase did not come from one type of medal alone. The academy added five more gold medals and nine more silver medals compared with 2025, while also improving its bronze tally by one.

For the athletes, the next stage will depend on the competition pathway available through school and skating events. SGFI’s national competition records include Gujarat among participating units in skating across several age groups, indicating that young skaters from the state have opportunities to compete beyond district-level events.

The 43-medal haul has therefore given Adani Sportsline Academy a strong district-level result for 2026. More importantly for the skaters themselves, the performances of Panchal, Shah, Joshi and their teammates provide measurable results against other school-level competitors and add another season of competition experience to their development.

The current SGFI records confirm Gujarat’s participation in school skating competitions, and the broader Adani Sportsline record confirms its speedskating activity and 2025-26 medal results. The specific 43-medal 2026 district-tournament tally and athlete-by-athlete results were cross-checked against current reporting published on August 31, 2026.
