With $1.69 billion in the international box office, Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has become the sixth-highest grossing film in history.

Variety.com reports that it beat out ‘Jurassic World ($1.67 billion) and ‘The Lion King’ ($1.66 billion) for the top place.

Despite worries regarding Covid-19, particularly the more transmissible Omicron version, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has remained a worldwide box office success.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ set another box-office record on Sunday, generating $1.69 billion worldwide to become the sixth-highest grossing film in history. It broke the previous record set by Jurassic World ($1.67 billion) and ‘The Lion King’ ($1.66 billion).

The family-friendly film has grossed $112 million abroad and $241 million worldwide since its release around Christmas.

Over the weekend, ‘No Way Home’ reclaimed the top spot in North America. Between Friday and Sunday in North America, it gained $14.1 million to its total. It increased its global collection by $27.7 million.

The film, which is directed by Tom Holland and stars Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in their former roles, brings together different Spider-Mans across the multiverse. The Sony-Marvel cooperation grossed $721 million in the United States and $970.1 million worldwide.
‘No Way Home’ is the fourth-highest grossing film ever made outside of the United States.

Despite the fact that it was not shown in China, the world’s largest moviegoing market, it managed to smash records.

The film has performed particularly well in Holland’s birthplace, the United Kingdom. So far, $116 million has been collected from the United Kingdom alone. Mexico, South Korea, and France are the other top-earning territories, with $73.4 million, $60.6 million, and $59.9 million, respectively.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ part of the MCU’s fourth phase, brings together three Spider-Mans from different eras to form a multiverse. Previously, Sony was the sole owner of the Spider-Man franchise.
