When a young leader and a fiery actress fall in love, the outcome is a tale worth telling, complete with all the glitz and glamour of a celebrity wedding. In a heartfelt, intimate, and emotionally charged episode, COLOURS ‘Pati Patni Aur Panga – Jodiyon Ka Reality Check’ retells the love tale of Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmad following its great debut. Known for their unabashed on-screen and off-screen speech, Swara and Fahad, who are both activists and leaders in their own right, talk openly about everything from the majesty of their traditional shaadi to the closeness of their court marriage.
The seriousness of a courtroom marked the beginning of their marriage. They began their lives together with a straightforward, uncomplicated court marriage, but what followed was a spectacular celebration. During their ten wonderful days in Delhi, Swara and Fahad turned her nana-nani’s home into the focal point of their wedding celebrations. Two families bonded like old friends on the hallowed site where Swara used to play as a child. While Fahad’s buddies added their clever disobedience to the mix, Swara’s NRI cousins turned the joota chhupai into a full-fledged confrontation demanding dollar ransoms. From heartfelt customs in which Swara draped her mother’s saree to unplanned dance-offs that conflate ladkiwale and ladkewale, the celebration was a mix of both ancient customs and contemporary interpretations.
What Swara Bhaskar thinks about her wedding. There was a certain poetic quality to starting our married life in the house where I grew up. We have memories of our wedding there as well as of growing up, vacations, and bedtime stories. Being there to celebrate was a throwback to a lot of things; it was a reunion of my wife, daughter, and grandchild. Our wedding was far from ideal, but we used everything we had to make it uniquely ours, and I loved sharing the experience on Pati Patni Aur Panga.
“Going back to our wedding on Pati Patni Aur Panga was such a nostalgic treat,” Fahad Ahmad muses. Since the event was about sharing with our loved ones something sincere that we had created from the ground up and would always defend, we wanted it to feel like home. Suddenly, two families from quite different origins were laughing, dancing, and performing a shaadi as if they had been doing it for years. Seeing friendships form in real time was the highlight. The things that no planner can plan for are the numerous unforeseen events that occur.
