An exclusive screening was held at PVR Palladium Mall, Ahmedabad, for the Gujarati Movie “Badhu Alright Chhe”
But is everything really alright or not? That is what we will discuss in today’s review.
First of all, this film is quite long. It runs for nearly two hours and forty-five minutes. It is a multi-starrer movie. If I start naming all of them, this review will become as long as the film itself.
Let us first talk about the writers and directors. The film is very well written. It is an excellent piece of writing.
The story is brilliant. It has been put together very cleverly, and every point has been thought through very well. The screenplay and dialogue are also excellent.
Some of the punchlines are so good that I literally clapped.
One of the dialogues in the film has changed the whole narrative, “problem tamari wife ma nathi, tamari technique ma che, tamare technique change karvi padse.” And after this dialogue, the actual movie takes off.
Many of the one-liners are extremely funny and entertaining.
“laptop mathi video delete kari ne pachu aapi daish, video delete na karay mare haji jovana baaki che.”
Umang Vyas once again has proved that he has a good vision of converting the text into visuals on the big screen. His direction is outstanding again.
This is the second movie of Viraj Ghelani; he was great in Zhamkudi also, and in “Badhu Alright Chee” he is again fantastic.
He is speaking in the British style of Gujarati in the movie, which looks very natural. I believe he has worked hard on acquiring this accent.
Viraj Ghelani mainly carries the first half-hour, but after that, every actor shown in the trailer gets a fair share of the film.
Jhanvi Gurnani as Dhara Mavawala looks naturally beautiful, simple and without extraordinary make-up. Similarly, Vineeta Joshi’s looks were also kept very subtle; the pimples on her face were clearly visible. These natural looks are highly appreciable.
Every actor has done a wonderful job with the role given to them. Whether it is Mehul Buch, Deep Vaidya, Chetan Daiya, Jaybhai, Prem Gadhavi, or any of the other actors, everyone has delivered a great performance. Each actor has done full justice to their character.
Morli Patel, the veteran actress, has played the role of the mother of Viraj Ghelani. Her role is small but effective and to the point.
Deep Vaidya’s track is brilliant. Wow! What a character. His character, Trikam, is absolutely fantastic. Deep Vaidya has played that role brilliantly. The way he has brought the character to life is superb.
Whatever role you give to the versatile actor Chetan Dhaiya, he will turn it to gold. I am always short of words for this actor.
The background music is also excellent. There is only one song in the film, sung by Jigardan Gadhavi and Ishani Dave, if I am not mistaken.
Talking about the cinematography, it is superb. The movie gives you a proper cinematic experience.
What Could Be Better (The Not-So-Good Stuff)
- Mehul Buch’s drunk Income Tax officer track feels stretched and somewhat over-the-top.
- The film could have benefited from a shorter runtime and tighter editing.
- The comedy is enjoyable, but it lacks the number of memorable punch moments seen in Zhamkudi.
- Some promising characters deserved more screen time and stronger development.
- Parts of the second half become predictable due to repeated confusion-and-resolution scenarios.
What I Loved
- The story feels natural and avoids forced situations.
- Intelligent humour driven by situations and strong dialogue writing.
- Viraj Ghelani delivers a highly enjoyable performance.
- Clean, family-friendly comedy that works across generations.
