Critical Review: “Sargam ”
A brand-new Gujarati movie, “Sargam” just hit the theatres, and I had the honour of attending the premiere show of “Sargam”. It is a beautiful musical drama that has a mix of Romance, family love, emotions, and comedy, meaning an emotionally entertaining movie.

If you are connected with the Gujarati film industry, then you must have heard one name, and that is Abhilash Ghoda. This is his debut film as a presenter.
The movie Sargam is about a talented young person who has a big dream but faces many rules from society and personal struggles. The makers call it the “unspoken melody of three hearts.”
It has a sweet love story, but it also focuses on the importance of family relationships. It doesn’t get too dramatic or fake. It stays simple and touching.
One of the best lines I liked in the movie is “જે કઈ પણ કરતો હોય એ બધુંજ મૂકી ને નીચે આવિજા”
One of the biggest strengths of Sargam is its entertaining comedy, packed with several laugh-out-loud moments. Harshit Dhebar (Daiyo), an experienced theatre actor, steals the show with his outstanding performance. His screen presence keeps the audience engaged and smiling throughout the film. Through both comic and emotional scenes, Harshit delivers a remarkable performance, proving his acting talent with ease.
Acting and Direction
Harshal Mankad Heyan, a professional banker by profession, clearly brings his passion for acting to the screen. He shows good potential and delivers a sincere performance that reflects his talent.
Sargam marks the debut of Shree Mandaviya. She gives a promising performance and shows glimpses of a capable actor. However, there is room for improvement, particularly in emotional scenes, where she can further develop her craft, especially in the timing. There were a few instances where she missed the timing of her dialogue.
Darshiina Barot plays Harshal’s wife, a strong and somewhat dominating character, and she fits the role naturally. She delivers a convincing performance and handles her character with confidence throughout the film.
Harshit Dhebar is undoubtedly one of the film’s biggest strengths. He carries much of the movie on his shoulders and delivers an outstanding performance as Aalap’s friend. His comic timing is excellent, his expressions are spot on, and he consistently adds energy and entertainment to every scene he appears in. I see a great future of Harshit Dhebar in the Gujarati film industry after this performance.
Director Nilesh Chovatiya has done a commendable job with Sargam. His direction is clean, balanced, and effective, allowing both the emotional moments and the musical sequences enough space to leave an impact. He maintains a steady pace throughout the film and ensures that each aspect of the story gets the attention it deserves.
What I Loved
- Simplicity of the movie, no nonsense.
- The content and the dialogues are simple and relatable, which we speak in our day-to-day life.
- The presence of renowned singers such as Sonu Nigam and Javed Ali
- The movie uses clean jokes and focuses on good family values. You can easily watch it with your kids, parents and grandparents.
- The second half of the movie is very emotional and will really touch your heart.
What Could Be Better (The Not-So-Good Stuff)
- The background music was disappointing because it often did not match the mood of the scenes. In many parts of the movie, the music felt out of place and weakened the emotions the scene was trying to create.
- The action scenes were also not very impressive. They lacked energy and excitement, making them less enjoyable to watch. This is an area where many Gujarati films still need improvement.
- The story is quite predictable. It follows a familiar path, and most viewers will be able to guess what happens next because similar stories have been seen many times before.
- On the technical side, the movie could have been much better. Improvements in areas like sound and action sequences.
Newz Daddy Verdict
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐✨ (3.5 out of 5 stars)
The movie Sargam has good comedy punches and has the ability to keep you engaged throughout. However, the story of the movie is predictable, as we have seen a lot of such movies in Bollywood. “Sargam” is a lovely new regional movie. If you love clean stories and emotional family moments, this movie is definitely worth buying a ticket for! Go check it out at a theatre near you.
