Gujarat welcomes Mallcom Sanand PPE Facility with Growing Employment

Mallcom India Limited, one of India’s leading Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) manufacturers, has announced a major step forward in its growth journey with the operationalisation of its new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The company has invested more than ₹100 crore in the project, making it one of the most significant additions to India’s industrial safety manufacturing sector in recent years.

The new Sanand plant is Mallcom’s 17th manufacturing facility and currently supports more than 200 jobs, including both direct and indirect employment. The company plans to increase this number to over 300 employees within the next year. Industry experts have frequently pointed out that manufacturing expansion projects like these play an important role in strengthening India’s industrial base while creating employment opportunities in emerging manufacturing hubs such as Sanand.

Sanand has become one of Gujarat’s fastest-growing industrial centres over the past decade. Several national and international manufacturers have chosen the region because of its strong infrastructure, connectivity, and supportive industrial policies. Mallcom’s decision to establish a large-scale PPE facility here reflects the growing importance of Gujarat as a manufacturing destination.

The facility houses advanced production lines for NBR and PU gloves, injection moulding systems, glove printing operations, safety helmets, and bump caps. Across the global PPE industry, automation and advanced manufacturing technologies are becoming increasingly important as companies seek to improve product consistency, worker safety, and production efficiency. Industry studies have shown that demand for high-quality protective equipment continues to grow across sectors such as construction, manufacturing, automotive, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.

Mallcom has also introduced a new NBR dipping line with online printing and stripping capabilities. The company noted that it has successfully localised products such as Protech PU gloves, which were previously imported. This move aligns with a broader trend seen across India’s manufacturing sector, where companies are working to reduce dependence on imports and increase domestic production capabilities. Industry observers believe localisation can help improve supply chain resilience while supporting long-term industrial growth.

The company acknowledged that certain raw materials are still sourced from countries including China, Italy, Sri Lanka, Brazil, and the Netherlands. However, Mallcom emphasised its continued efforts to strengthen indigenous manufacturing capabilities. Over recent years, many Indian manufacturers have focused on building stronger domestic supply chains following global disruptions that exposed vulnerabilities in international sourcing networks.

Sustainability remains a key focus at the Sanand facility. The plant uses biomass pellets for cleaner energy generation and operates a Zero Liquid Discharge system to support water conservation. Environmental responsibility is becoming an increasingly important factor across the manufacturing industry, with businesses facing growing expectations from customers, regulators, and investors to adopt greener practices. Experts note that water recycling and cleaner energy sources are among the most effective ways manufacturers can reduce their environmental impact.

The facility also follows SEDEX-audited standards for ethical manufacturing. Globally, SEDEX standards are recognised for promoting responsible business practices, worker welfare, and transparency throughout supply chains. Increasingly, international buyers are seeking suppliers that can demonstrate strong ethical and environmental credentials alongside product quality.

Mallcom’s vertically integrated manufacturing model enables the company to maintain close control over quality at every stage of production. The facility complies with globally recognised safety certifications, including EN, CE, ANSI, and IS standards. Such certifications are often viewed as essential benchmarks for PPE products used in high-risk industrial environments where worker safety remains a top priority.

Speaking about the development, Mr Giriraj Mall, Executive Director of Mallcom India Ltd., stated that the Sanand facility represents a significant milestone in the company’s expansion strategy and reflects its commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities within India.

One of the most notable developments announced by the company is the establishment of India’s first Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) unit for Protech PU gloves at the Sanand facility. The Indian industrial safety market has traditionally relied heavily on imported PU gloves, particularly from China and other Asian countries. Industry experts believe that local manufacturing of such specialised products could help strengthen domestic supply chains while supporting the government’s Make in India initiative.

Looking ahead, Mallcom expects the Sanand facility to play a central role in its future growth plans. By expanding production capacity, increasing localisation, and supporting product innovation, the company aims to strengthen its position in both domestic and international PPE markets. As industrial safety standards continue to evolve worldwide, investments in modern manufacturing facilities such as Sanand are likely to become increasingly important for India’s ambition to emerge as a global manufacturing powerhouse.
