The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad is soaring to new heights with impressive growth in passenger traffic and significant infrastructure upgrades. Managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, a part of Adani Enterprises Ltd., the airport has recorded a stunning performance for the financial year 2024-25.
Between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, SVPI Airport welcomed a record 13,427,697 passengers, which is a remarkable 14.8% increase from the previous year’s 11.6 million travellers. This growth is a clear sign of Ahmedabad’s importance as both a major travel destination and a critical transit hub.
A closer look at the numbers reveals that more than 11 million domestic passengers travelled through SVPI Airport, while over 2.2 million international passengers connected from Ahmedabad to global destinations. The airport also hosted several high-profile events during the year, pushing travel numbers even higher.
One of the standout moments came on January 25, 2025, when SVPI Airport set a new record by handling 48,137 passengers and 351 aircraft movements in a single day. This was a significant leap from the earlier record of 42,224 passengers and 328 flights on November 20, 2023.
SVPI Airport’s growth is not just about numbers; it’s also about better infrastructure and technology. To accommodate the rising traffic, the airport added five new parking stands and implemented the Multiple Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) at its aerobridges. This has helped optimise the use of space and improved the overall efficiency of aircraft movements.
To make the passenger experience smoother, the airport introduced self-baggage drop machines for faster check-ins and cleaning robots to maintain high standards of hygiene. Additionally, the launch of the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Travellers Programme (FTI-TTP) and Digi Yatra at Terminal 2 has significantly cut down waiting times for eligible travellers. The new extended check-in hall at Terminal 2 also provides a spacious and comfortable area for passengers preparing for their journeys.
SVPI Airport is going beyond just efficient travel; it’s focused on passenger comfort and convenience. For international passengers without Indian SIM cards, free Wi-Fi coupon kiosks have been set up, ensuring they stay connected from the moment they land.
The airport has also introduced inter-terminal electric shuttle buses, making it easier for passengers to move between terminals. To top it off, the Udaan Yatri Café at Terminal 1 offers a relaxed space for travellers to unwind, alongside a wider range of retail and food options across both terminals.
SVPI Airport has extended its reach with new domestic routes to places like Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Nanded, Kolhapur, Dimapur, and Kishangarh. Internationally, it now connects to Don Mueang (Bangkok), Kuala Lumpur, and Da Nang, broadening Ahmedabad’s access to global destinations.
To meet rising demand, SVPI has also increased flight frequencies to major cities like Delhi, Jeddah, Don Mueang, Kuwait, Kolkata, Kochi, and Abu Dhabi. This expansion reflects the airport’s commitment to providing better connectivity for travellers.
Recognising its importance as a gateway for surrounding cities, SVPI Airport introduced a direct bus service to Vadodara, operated by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC). This new service aims to make travel more accessible for passengers coming from neighbouring regions.
SVPI Airport’s dedication to safety and efficiency has not gone unnoticed. The airport received numerous awards and recognitions over the past year, including:
ACI Level – 3 Certification
Greentech EHS Global Award 2024
25th INSSAN event awards
Greentech PCWR Awards 2024
Platinum Award at SEEM Awards 2024

22nd Greentech Global Workplace Safety Award 2024
One of the biggest milestones achieved by the airport was 10 million incident-free work hours—a testament to its strong commitment to safety and well-being for both passengers and staff.
SVPI Airport’s remarkable performance in passenger traffic, infrastructure upgrades, and global connectivity is not just setting new benchmarks for airports in India but also showcasing Ahmedabad as a prominent aviation hub.
