Chiripal Group Blood Donation Campaign Begins Across Gujarat

Chiripal Group Expands Annual Blood Donation Campaign Across Gujarat After 20 Years of Community Service

The Chiripal Group has started the 2026 edition of its annual blood donation campaign, marking 20 years since the employee-led programme began. This year’s month-long drive was launched on 15 July at the Nandan Denim manufacturing plant in Piplaj, Ahmedabad, with a target of collecting 5,000 units of blood from employees and volunteers.

The opening event was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Shri Dineshbhai Makwana in the presence of Shri Jyotiprasad Chiripal. The campaign is being organised with support from the Indian Red Cross Society, Sarvodaya Blood Centre, Hiramani Aarogyadham, Zydus Hospitals, Prathama Blood Centre and Jivraj Mehta Hospital.

According to the company, the campaign will run at 26 locations covering its corporate offices and manufacturing units and is expected to involve nearly 20,000 employees.

The annual campaign is organised to coincide with the birthday of Shri Brij Mohan Chiripal, Promoter of Chiripal Group. What started as a small employee initiative two decades ago has grown into one of Gujarat’s long-running voluntary blood donation programmes within the corporate sector.

Company figures show that more than 55,000 units of blood have been collected through the campaign over the past 20 years. This year’s target of 5,000 units would add to that total if achieved.

Blood donation continues to play an important role in India’s healthcare system. Hospitals require a steady supply of blood for accident victims, cancer patients, women facing complications during childbirth, children with blood disorders such as thalassaemia, and patients undergoing major surgeries. Since donated blood has a limited shelf life, regular voluntary donations remain essential throughout the year.

The National Blood Transfusion Council and the Indian Red Cross Society have repeatedly encouraged voluntary blood donation as the safest and most reliable way to maintain adequate blood supplies. India has made steady progress in increasing voluntary donations during the past decade, yet many states continue to experience seasonal shortages during festivals, holidays and the monsoon, when fewer people donate.

Gujarat has developed a strong network of government, charitable and private blood banks. Organisations such as Prathama Blood Centre, the Indian Red Cross Society and leading hospitals regularly organise community drives with educational institutions, industries and residential communities to encourage healthy adults to donate blood.

The Chiripal campaign reflects a wider trend in which large employers use workplace programmes to support public health. Organising donation camps at factories and offices makes it easier for eligible employees to participate during working hours while ensuring that collections are handled by licensed medical teams following national safety guidelines.

The company says the campaign has gradually become part of its workplace culture, with employees from different businesses taking part together each year. Participation extends across departments, manufacturing sites and corporate offices, bringing together staff members who may not normally work alongside one another.

The initiative has also expanded beyond company premises. In recent years, Chiripal Group has worked with residential societies and partner institutions to encourage members of the public to join the drives. The wider participation is intended to improve the availability of safe blood for hospitals while increasing awareness about voluntary blood donation.

Speaking about this drive, Ronak Chiripal, Promoter, Chiripal Group, said, “The campaign reflects Chiripal Group’s broader philosophy of creating value beyond business. Alongside its contributions across textiles, petrochemicals, renewable energy and other sectors, the Group continues to invest in activities that bring people together for a larger purpose. By encouraging employees to contribute their time and effort towards society, Chiripal has nurtured a culture where compassion and responsibility are embedded into everyday work.”

Chiripal Group has interests in textiles, denim manufacturing, petrochemicals, packaging materials, renewable energy, education and other sectors. Nandan Denim, where this year’s campaign began, is among India’s recognised denim manufacturers and forms an important part of the group’s textile operations.

Corporate participation in voluntary blood donation has become more common across India as companies increasingly include health and community welfare projects within their broader social responsibility programmes. Industry bodies and healthcare organisations have often pointed to workplace donation drives as an effective way to reach large numbers of healthy adults while reducing pressure on hospitals to arrange emergency collections.

Medical experts advise that healthy adults who meet eligibility requirements can usually donate whole blood safely at regular intervals after undergoing health screening. Every donated unit can help more than one patient because blood is separated into different components, including red blood cells, plasma and platelets, each used for different medical treatments.

As the 2026 campaign continues across Gujarat, Chiripal Group has invited eligible citizens, educational institutions and residential communities to take part in upcoming donation camps. After two decades of annual collections, the programme has become a continuing partnership between employees, healthcare organisations and volunteers working to strengthen blood availability for patients who depend on timely transfusions.
