Rahul Gandhi Set to Kick Off Bharat Nyay Yatra

Newz Daddy Political Updates

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, is set to kick off the Bharat Nyay Yatra, scheduled to start on January 14. This Bharat Nyay Yatra will be spanning 85 districts across 14 states and is slated to conclude on March 20, just a few days before the election.  So this Bharat Nyay Yatra seems to be an election campaign, especially in the Hindi Heartland. Unlike his previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, which traversed from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, this journey will kick off in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, and wind its way to Mumbai.

Which States Yatra will Cover

The Bharat Nyay Yatra is poised to cover a diverse array of states starting from Eastern states and winding in the western states of the country.  It will include Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The decision to start from Manipur holds significance, aiming to address the aftermath of ethnic clashes in the region that resulted in displacement and loss of life.

The formation of Bharat Nyay Yatra

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which predominantly relied on foot travel, the Bharat Nyay Yatra will incorporate both bus travel and intermittent walking stretches. K.C. Venugopal, Congress general secretary in charge of the organization, shared these details during a press conference on December 26, adding that further specifics would be revealed later.

Objectives of the Yatra

The Congress’s general secretary of communication, Jairam Ramesh, emphasized that the Bharat Nyay Yatra aims to address issues of social, economic, and political justice in the country. This echoes the focus of the previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, which honed in on economic disparities, polarization, and dictatorship. The apparent objective of this Bharat Nyay Yatra is to gain some traction in these regions as the Lok Sabha Elections are now just 5 months away.

Political Significance of Bharat Nyay Yatra

The president of the Congress Party, Mallikarjun Kharge, is said to inaugurate the yatra from Imphal, the capital of Manipur. The choice of Manipur as the starting point is attributed to healing the wounds of the people in the aftermath of ethnic clashes and its strategic importance in the country. The Congress party has strategically leveraged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to visit Manipur during or after the clashes as a significant political issue.

Manipur, in recent times, has been a hotspot for ethnic clashes, causing immense suffering to its residents. Rahul Gandhi had previously visited the state during the height of the violence. The Congress party’s decision to commence the Bharat Nyay Yatra from Manipur is a nuanced political move addressing both the immediate concerns of the people and broader national issues.

Inclusion of Other Political Parties

According to the Congress leaders, the possibility of other political parties joining the Bharat Nyaya Yatra is under consideration. During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, leaders from various political backgrounds joined Rahul Gandhi for brief stretches. The Congress Party is expecting more political leaders must join the Bharat Nyay Yatra to get more attention of the public. However, the collaboration with the political parties is going on for the same.

Impact on Election Campaign

Addressing concerns about the yatra coinciding with the upcoming Lok Sabha election campaign, K.C. Venugopal expressed confidence that both the yatra and the election campaign could proceed concurrently. He urged the media to wait for further details on how these two significant events would be coordinated.

As Rahul Gandhi prepares to embark on the Bharat Nyay Yatra, the political landscape anticipates the unfolding narrative and the impact it may have on public perception. This journey, spanning diverse states and addressing crucial socio-political issues, is poised to be a significant chapter in the political discourse leading up to the upcoming elections.
