Suneel Darshan’s ‘Andaaz 2’: New Beginnings, New Talents

Get ready for a blast from the past as filmmaker Suneel Darshan announces the sequel to his 2003 hit film “Andaaz.” With the success of “Gadar 2” inspiring a wave of sequels, Suneel Darshan is all set to begin shooting “Andaaz 2,” which originally starred Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, and Akshay Kumar.

Suneel Darshan shared, “Twenty years after the release of the 2003 hit Andaaz, which introduced newcomers Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra opposite Akshay Kumar, I am about to start filming Andaaz 2. The shoot begins tomorrow.” He revealed that the sequel will showcase three fresh talents in the lead roles, with original music by Nadeem, of Nadeem-Shravan fame, and lyrics by Sameer and Nadeem. Suneel Darshan is handling the writing, production, and direction for this Shree Krishna International presentation.

Although the names of the newcomers remain a well-kept secret, Suneel Darshan assured fans that he would soon unveil the star-studded cast. The original “Andaaz,” directed by Raj Kanwar and produced by Suneel Darshan, explored a love triangle between a man and two women. The film gained popularity for its soulful songs, emotional moments, and the sizzling chemistry between the actors.

Reflecting on the success of the 2003 film, Suneel Darshan shared in an exclusive interview from May 2022, “Several cinemas wanted to shut down during the 2003 strike. We had distributed the film ourselves, and I personally called theater owners, requesting them to keep their cinemas going. I assured them that they’d benefit from Andaaz, as I had faith in the product. Thankfully, the film became a rage on the single screens.”

The original film featured Lara Dutta alongside Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar, with supporting characters played by Pankaj Dheer, Johny Lever, Maya Alagh, and more. As “Andaaz 2” gears up for production, fans eagerly await the unveiling of the new faces set to carry on the legacy of this Bollywood classic.
