Upstox Event in Ahmedabad to Bring Traders Together on November 1

Upstox Brings Trading Lessons to Ahmedabad as Investor Numbers Grow

The November 1 event will bring financial expert Jiga Bhai and local traders together for discussions on market strategies, risk and trading habits.

Traders in Ahmedabad will get an opportunity to meet financial experts and discuss their experiences at an event organised by Upstox on November 1. The programme, called ‘Beyond Market Hours’, will take place at Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels and is part of the company’s plan to reach more than one lakh traders across India.

The event comes as trading platforms seek closer contact with users who want to understand how financial markets work and how to make informed decisions. Upstox, operated by RKSV Securities India Pvt. Ltd., is organising the Ahmedabad meeting under its nationwide Upstox Trader Yatra programme.

The company began the initiative in Mumbai in September. It has since held events in Surat and Rajkot, with further meetings planned in other Indian cities.

The Ahmedabad programme will feature financial influencer and market expert Jiga Bhai, also known as a Gujarati trader. He is expected to discuss trading strategies, market movements, risk management and the need for discipline while buying and selling financial assets.

Participants will be able to ask questions during interactive sessions. The programme will also recognise some of Ahmedabad’s top Upstox traders, who are expected to speak about their trading experiences, difficulties and lessons learnt.

For people who trade regularly, such meetings can offer a chance to compare experiences and learn how others approach the markets. However, trading decisions still depend on individual financial circumstances, market conditions and the risks involved.

The name ‘Beyond Market Hours’ refers to the focus on discussions outside regular trading hours. The event is designed to bring traders together when they can talk about the markets without having to follow live price movements.

India’s stock markets are open for regular equity trading from 9.15 am to 3.30 pm on normal trading days. During this period, prices can change quickly in response to company news, economic reports, global events and investor activity.

For many traders, understanding these changes can be difficult. A rise or fall in a share price does not always tell the full story behind a market move.

Financial education programmes often cover topics such as technical analysis, trading plans, stop-loss orders and risk control. These are also among the subjects planned for the Ahmedabad meeting.

Upstox says the event is part of its ‘Upstox Hai Toh Better Hai’ brand proposition. The company aims to encourage traders to improve their knowledge and develop more disciplined trading practices.

Trading in shares and other financial products can involve losses. The risks can be greater when people trade often, use borrowed money or act on short-term price movements without a clear plan.

Risk management is therefore expected to be a key subject at the Ahmedabad event. Traders will be able to hear views on how to manage their positions and avoid decisions driven by sudden market changes.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has also raised concerns about losses among individual traders in the equity derivatives market. Its September 2024 study found that 93 per cent of individual traders in the equity futures and options segment incurred losses between FY22 and FY24.

The findings showed the risks faced by people trading in futures and options, a market where prices can move sharply and losses can build quickly.

The study does not cover every type of investor or every form of trading. However, it serves as a reminder that market participation requires a clear understanding of the products being used and the risks involved.

The Ahmedabad meeting will also give local traders a chance to speak about their own experiences. Upstox plans to recognise some of its top traders in the city, who will share their trading journeys and the lessons they have learnt.

The programme will include opportunities for attendees to meet other traders and discuss the features available on the Upstox platform.

Such gatherings can help traders exchange information and hear different views. But information shared at an event should not be treated as a guarantee of future returns. Market conditions can change, and a strategy that worked for one person may not work for another.

Through Upstox Trader Yatra, the company plans to reach more than one lakh traders across India. The Ahmedabad event follows meetings in Mumbai, Surat and Rajkot, with the programme expected to continue in other cities.

The initiative forms part of Upstox’s effort to take its ‘Upstox Hai Toh Better Hai’ message directly to trading communities.

The November 1 meeting will bring financial experts and local traders into the same room. Its value for participants will depend on the quality of the discussions and how well the lessons apply to their own trading decisions.

For Ahmedabad’s trading community, the event offers a chance to ask questions, hear from market participants and discuss the risks that come with trading.
