Youth Exchange Programme: Manuj Kumar Selected for India Team
NCC Gujarat Cadet Manuj Kumar Will Represent India During An Official Visit To Kyrgyz Republic.
Cadet Manuj Kumar of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate, Gujarat, has been selected to represent India in the prestigious Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) 2026. He will visit the Kyrgyz Republic as part of India’s official NCC delegation, marking a significant achievement for the state and its youth training programme.
Manuj Kumar is a cadet of the 1 Gujarat NCC Battalion and is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Seventh Day Adventist Arts & Science College. His selection comes after consistent performances in academics, sports and NCC training, earning him a place among a select group of cadets chosen from across the country.
The Youth Exchange Programme is one of the NCC’s flagship international initiatives. It brings together young people from India and friendly foreign nations to promote cultural understanding, leadership and international cooperation. Participants take part in educational visits, leadership activities and cultural programmes while introducing India’s traditions and learning about the customs and heritage of the host country.
The Kyrgyz Republic, located in Central Asia, shares friendly diplomatic relations with India. Youth exchange programmes such as the YEP strengthen these ties by encouraging direct interaction between young people. The experience also helps participants improve communication skills, teamwork and confidence while gaining a broader understanding of different cultures.
The National Cadet Corps, operating under the Ministry of Defence, is the world’s largest uniformed youth organisation. Established under the National Cadet Corps Act, 1948, it provides voluntary training to school and college students across India. Guided by its motto, “Unity and Discipline”, the organisation focuses on developing leadership, discipline, character and a spirit of national service. Cadets regularly participate in camps, adventure activities, social service programmes and national events.
Selection for the Youth Exchange Programme is highly competitive. Cadets are evaluated on leadership qualities, discipline, physical fitness, communication skills, academic performance and their overall contribution to NCC activities. Only a limited number of cadets from NCC directorates across India are selected each year.
According to information released by NCC Directorate Gujarat, Manuj Kumar’s achievements in academics, sports and military discipline helped him secure a place in the Indian delegation. His selection reflects years of dedication and consistent performance in both education and NCC training.
The 1 Gujarat NCC Battalion has contributed to developing young leaders through regular training, camps and community service activities. Gujarat has consistently produced cadets who participate in national-level NCC programmes, including Republic Day Camp, specialised training courses and international exchange opportunities.
For students, participation in the Youth Exchange Programme offers valuable exposure beyond the classroom. It provides an opportunity to build leadership skills, understand global cultures and represent India before an international audience. Many former participants have described the programme as an important step in their personal and professional growth.
Manuj Kumar’s selection is a proud moment for NCC Directorate Gujarat, the 1 Gujarat NCC Battalion and Seventh Day Adventist Arts & Science College. As he prepares to represent India in the Youth Exchange Programme 2026, his achievement reflects the opportunities available through the National Cadet Corps and serves as an example for young people interested in leadership, discipline and national service.
