“Ohh My Dog” is a beautiful family movie filled with love, friendship, hope, and kindness. It reminds us that animals are not just pets. They become a part of our family and can change our lives in ways we never imagine.
The movie is written and directed by Amit Rai, who is also known for directing OMG 2. Once again, he proves that he knows how to tell a simple story with strong emotions. His writing, screenplay, and direction make this film special.
I had the privilege of attending the premiere of “Ohh My Dog” in Ahmedabad. It was also a pleasure to meet the director, Shri Amit Rai, after the screening. Talking to him made me understand the hard work and passion that went into making this film.
A Special Moment With Director Amit Rai
After the premiere, I had the pleasure of speaking with director Shri Amit Rai. He shared an interesting story about one of the film’s best scenes.
He told me that the scene where the dog jumps over the roof of a washroom was filmed in just one take. Smiling, he said, “How the dog did that, only God knows.”
Trust me, this is one of the most exciting scenes in the movie. It will surely give you goosebumps.
Shri Amit Rai also praised Geeta Agarwal Sharma for her outstanding performance. He said she is a talented multilingual actress who has worked in Bhojpuri, Marathi, Rajasthani, Malvi, and several other language films. After watching the movie, I can say she truly does a wonderful job.
The Stars of the Movie
The film features a talented cast.
Maahi Rai plays the young boy in the story. This is his first movie, and he delivers a wonderful performance. It is hard to believe that he is making his acting debut. He brings honesty and innocence to every scene. Maahi is the son of director Amit Rai, but he has earned his praise through his performance.
Pankaj Tripathi appears as a kind and caring mentor. Although his role is not very long, he leaves a positive impression whenever he is on screen.
Pawan Malhotra, Rajesh Kumar, and Geeta Agarwal play supporting roles as family members and police officers. They make the story feel real and add warmth and humour to the film.
And then comes the biggest star of the movie.
The adorable stray dog steals every scene. You simply cannot take your eyes off this lovable four-legged actor.

The screenplay follows two stories at the same time. This is one of the biggest strengths of the film.
From the very first scene, the movie grabs your attention. Every few minutes, you find yourself thinking about what will happen next. Just when one story reaches an important moment, the film moves back to the other story, keeping you curious throughout.
The movie has a runtime of around two and a half hours, but it never feels slow. Every scene has a purpose, and the emotional moments are placed perfectly.
If you enjoy films that make you laugh, smile, worry, and even cry, this movie will not disappoint you.
A Message That Stays With You
This is not just a movie about a dog. It is a movie about compassion. It teaches us that every animal deserves love, care, and respect.

Making This Film Was Not Easy
Working with child actors is already a challenge. Working with animals is even more difficult.
Many scenes involve street dogs, and anyone who has worked with animals knows how much patience, planning, and dedication it takes. The entire team deserves appreciation for bringing these scenes to life so naturally.
Director Amit Rai deserves special credit for handling such a difficult subject with honesty and care.
Performances
The real heart of the movie belongs to Maahi Rai and the lovable dogs. Their friendship feels genuine, and together they carry the film beautifully. There are two dogs in this movie with different stories in the movie.
Maahi delivers an impressive first performance. His expressions, emotions, and innocence make you connect with his character from the beginning.
The dog is simply unforgettable. It is impossible not to smile whenever it appears on screen.

During the screening, I saw many people wiping tears from their eyes. I was emotional too. My cousin was equally moved by the story.
The last time I experienced such strong emotions in a film based on the bond between humans and dogs was while watching Teri Meherbaniyan starring Jackie Shroff. Ohh My Dog creates a similar emotional connection for today’s audience.
The emotions feel real, not forced. That is what makes the movie memorable.
