As the entire cricketing world mourned the passing of a great symbol of the game, reactions from the cricket community poured in.

Warne, who won the World Cup in 1999, was regarded as one of the best spinners in the game.

He concluded his Test career with 708 wickets, second only to Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of wicket-taking in Test cricket.

Following the shocking news of Warne’s death, a number of cricketers paid their respects to the Australian legend.

Suresh Raina said, “I’m speechless by the news of our cricketing hero Shane Warne’s death; he was always magnificent on the pitch. May you be blessed with tranquility. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.

Yusuf Pathan expressed his sadness at Shane Warne’s passing on his official Twitter account, writing, “He was always one of the skippers I held in great regard. This news is quite difficult to take in. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Warne shot to prominence early in his career when he bowled England captain Mike Gatting with his first delivery, later termed “the ball of the century,” during the 1993 Ashes tour of England.
