The Disney+ Hotstar programme Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo is Homi Adajania’s creation and direction of the darker and messier saas-bahu drama.
On Wednesday, April 12, the OTT service Disney+ Hotstar debuted the first trailer for its upcoming programme Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo. Homi Adajania, who is known for helming eccentric movies like Being Cyrus and Finding Fanny, casts Dimple Kapadia, Radhika Madan, Angira Dhar, and Isha Talwar as the main characters in this gripping drama.
The Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi theme music plays in the background as the trailer opens with a typical pleasant family scene. However, things quickly become darker and dirtier as the four women are seen using knives and guns to murder guys all over the place.
“The series revolves around four inimitable women, the matriarch Savitri, her daughters-in-law Bijli and Kajal, and her daughter Shanta who live in Hastipur – a forgotten village in the north-west,” according to the official summary of Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo. Savitri is the owner of a business called Rani Cooperative that sells anything from textiles to jari-booti balms. But nothing in this place is exactly as it seems. It turns out that this small business is only a front for South Asia’s largest narcotics mafia.
Dimple Kapadia made the following statement about her television character Savitri: “When tragedy strikes and the world turns its back on her, Savitri doesn’t curl up and die; she rises from the ashes and forges her own destiny. What I adore about her character is this. She is the owner of her unique moral compass. She only trades in trust as money. The baddest saas you’ve ever seen is Savitri. She has several mysterious faces. She is a master of manipulation, brutal and exposed, and she plays a game with enormous stakes that might mean the difference between life and death.
According to Radhika Madan, “We notice a progressive transformation in the dynamics of a mother-daughter connection with Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo. You wouldn’t want my Savitri’s daughter’s character on your bad side, but you would want her on your side. “With Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo,” continued Homi Adajania, “I wanted to create a chaotic world dominated by indomitable women and break stereotypes, speaking of which, the biggest one that we have broken is the Saas-Bahu cliché.”
In addition to others, the show also stars Ashish Verma, Varun Mitra, Udit Arora, Deepak Dobriyal, and Monica Dogra. From May 5, all of the episodes will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
