“Ikka” Movie Review:

After sitting through the torture of Dhamaal 4, I came home and peacefully watched Ikka on Netflix. Starring our own Sunny Paaji and Rahman Daku, played by Akshaye Khanna. The story is based on a courtroom drama, and I love courtroom dramas. So, is this film worth watching? Let’s talk about it.

Well, hello! My name is Yogi, and we will keep meeting again and again.

The story is about a man, played by Akshaye Khanna, who is accused of murder. Sunny Paaji plays the defence lawyer. According to the story, he is the kind of lawyer who never takes a case if there is even a small doubt that the person might really be guilty. He always fights to get justice for innocent people.

So, what happens that forces him to take a case like this? Does he really defend the accused, or does he turn against him? You will find out in this film.

The film is almost two hours and fifteen minutes long. It keeps you interested from start to finish. It also leaves you with one big question until the very end. Did the murder really happen or not? That is the reason this whole case is being fought.

Akshaye Khanna’s acting is too good as it has been throughout his career. He has not left behind his Rehman Dakait style here either.

But Sunny Paaji stands out even more. His role in this courtroom drama is very interesting. He is shown as a lawyer who has never lost a single case in his life. When he is forced to fight a case that goes against his own values, the way he handles it without becoming corrupt is worth watching.

Tilotama Shome again proved that she is a very good actor; her facial expressions are too good. I had the privilege of talking to her on the phone about her web series “The Night Manager” back in the year 2023.

The climax of “Ikka” is also very well written. When the truth finally comes out, Sunny Paaji plays his final “Ikka”. That is when you understand why the film is called Ikka.

Talking about the negatives, some parts become quite predictable. The way the characters are portrayed from the beginning, you can easily guess that this is going to happen.

The reason why Sunny Paaji’s character is forced to take this case requires a wider way of thinking to understand. I cannot explain it here because it would spoil the film. But I think many regular viewers may troll the film because of this.

Talking about the positives, the film has no songs, it will not make you feel bored, and it will keep you guessing.

So, if you enjoy courtroom dramas, “Ikka” is a must-watch movie for you.

In “Ikka”, there is no brutality, abusive language, or vulgar content in the film. So you can watch it this weekend with your family.

To be honest, I expected a bit too much from this film, but that’s fine. But how could I not have high expectations? Two acting legends are facing each other, so the expectations naturally become high.

I also think the makers made the right decision by releasing it directly on OTT because I do not think this film would have done much business in cinemas given the predictable content of “Ikka”; this is my opinion.

The cost of production is also average, as the majority of the scenes are in the courtroom. The music is also okay, not loud and noisy, but nothing extraordinary.

News Daddy Rating:  I will give 3.5 out of 5 stars.

It is worth watching once, but it is not really the kind of film that you would watch again. You can watch for Sunny and Akshay. “Ikka” is not going to give you any vital information or message; it’s a good one-time watch movie.
