Janmashtami Special: How COLORS’ Actors Celebrate Lord Krishna’s Birth

Janmashtami is a festival that holds a deep cultural and spiritual significance for millions of people in India and around the world. Celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Krishna, the festival is filled with joyous rituals, prayers, and festivities. This year, actors from popular COLORS TV shows shared their personal experiences of celebrating Janmashtami, both in their personal lives and on the sets of their shows.

These actors bring their unique traditions and emotions into the celebrations, reflecting their deep connection with Lord Krishna and the festival. Let’s explore how some of these popular stars celebrate this beautiful occasion and what makes it so special for them.

Akshay Kharodia’s Fond Memories and Intimate Celebrations

Akshay Kharodia, who plays Vedant in COLORS’ popular show Suhaagan, shares how Janmashtami has always been close to his heart. He reminisces about his childhood memories when the festival was a community affair. Akshay and his friends would bring an idol of Lord Krishna to their society and perform pooja with the entire neighborhood. One of his favorite parts of the festival was being at the top of the human pyramid to break the traditional handi (clay pot) filled with curd. The excitement, joy, and spirit of togetherness during those times are unforgettable for him.

Now, Akshay’s celebrations are more intimate. He performs a small pooja at home and celebrates on the set of Suhaagan with his colleagues. However, the essence of the festival remains unchanged for him. “Wishing you all the blessings of Lord Krishna on this beautiful day,” he says, hoping that the festival brings peace and prosperity to everyone’s lives.

Naman Shaw’s Traditions in Kolkata and Mumbai

Naman Shaw, who essays the role of Adit in COLORS’ Mangal Lakshmi, recalls the unique traditions his family follows in Kolkata. His elders fast until midnight, marking the exact time of Lord Krishna’s birth with a grand aarti (prayer ceremony). They also swing a small idol of Krishna on a beautifully decorated jhula (swing), a tradition that has been followed for generations in his family.

After moving to Mumbai, Naman continues to honor these traditions by visiting the ISKCON temple with his family. This year, he is excited to celebrate Janmashtami on the sets of Mangal Lakshmi, where the cast and crew will be together to mark this special day. One day, Naman hopes to celebrate Janmashtami in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, with his son. He shares his heartfelt wish for everyone: “May Lord Krishna take away all your worries and fill your life with love and joy.”

Neha Rana’s Excitement for Mumbai’s Dahi Handi Celebrations

Neha Rana, who portrays Megha in Megha Barsenge, is particularly excited about experiencing Janmashtami in Mumbai this year. Known for its grand dahi-handi celebrations, where participants form towering human pyramids to break a pot of curd hanging high above, the city’s enthusiasm for the festival is infectious. Neha shares how the sound of Krishna bhajans (devotional songs) brings her a sense of peace and clarity. She is looking forward to witnessing the dahi-handi festivities in person with her friends.

On the sets of Megha Barsenge, the celebrations will be no less exciting, with the entire team coming together to perform pooja and enjoy traditional prasad like panjiri, kheer, and maakhan mishri, which were favorites of Lord Krishna. For Neha, these celebrations are a beautiful way to stay connected with her faith and heritage.

Anchal Sahu’s Temple Visit and Celebration on Set

Anchal Sahu, who plays Parvati in COLORS’ Parineetii, shares her plans to start the day with a visit to the temple to offer her prayers to Lord Krishna. Janmashtami is a time of reflection and gratitude for her, and she is eager to participate in the celebrations planned by her show’s team.

The entire cast and crew of Parineetii will come together to perform the pooja and swing Lord Krishna’s idol on a decorated jhula. Anchal also plans to distribute makhana mishri, a sweet treat that Lord Krishna is said to have loved, to everyone on set. She extends her warm wishes to all, hoping that everyone experiences a joyous Janmashtami filled with love and happiness.

Shruti Bhist’s Connection to Mathura and Krishna’s Spirit

Shruti Bhist, who plays the titular role of Mishri in COLORS’ Mishri, has always felt a special connection to Janmashtami. She starts each day with a prayer at a nearby Krishna temple and loves involving her friends in the festivities, especially during dahi-handi.

This year is particularly special for her as her show Mishri is set in Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna. Shruti feels a deep connection to the festival because of this, and the team is planning a grand celebration as part of the show’s storyline. She feels that portraying a character so closely linked to Krishna’s homeland has brought her closer to the festival’s true spirit. Shruti wishes that everyone enjoys the divine blessings of Lord Krishna this Janmashtami and experiences the magic that she feels on set.
