The Satya Art Gallery, nestled within the historic Navjivan Trust campus, is currently hosting ‘Jhalak’, a captivating photo exhibition by esteemed photographer Salil Mehta. This exhibition offers visitors an immersive visual journey through the Panch Kailash Yatra, a pilgrimage encompassing five revered Himalayan peaks associated with Lord Shiva.
The term ‘Panch Kailash’ refers to five sacred mountains:
Kailash Mansarovar: Located in Tibet, it’s considered the ultimate spiritual destination for many devotees.
Adi Kailash: Often referred to as Chhota Kailash, situated in Uttarakhand, India.
Manimahesh Kailash: Nestled in Himachal Pradesh, India, known for its pristine lake.
Shrikhand Mahadev: A challenging trek in Himachal Pradesh leading to a Shivling-shaped peak.
Kinner Kailash: Located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, revered for its spiritual significance.
These peaks are not just geographical landmarks but are deeply embedded in Hindu mythology and spirituality, each offering unique challenges and profound experiences to pilgrims.
Salil Mehta’s lens brings forth the raw beauty and spiritual aura of these majestic mountains. Through 48 meticulously captured photographs, visitors can witness the diverse terrains, from snow-clad peaks to serene lakes, and the unwavering devotion of pilgrims undertaking these arduous journeys.
Mehta remarks, “The Panch Kailash Yatra has seen a surge in devotees over the past fifteen years. While infrastructure has improved, making some treks more accessible, the essence of the pilgrimage remains unchanged. Each path to Mahadev’s abode is a testament to faith, resilience, and spiritual awakening.”
