Ahmedabad Airport Wins Gold Award for Saving Energy
Ahmedabad, September 22, 2023 – The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad has done something great. They were given a special gold award for using less energy and being eco-friendly. This award was in the “Facility” category for airports, and it was given by the Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) in New Delhi on September 21st.
The airport in Ahmedabad got this award because they did many things to save energy and be more sustainable. They put in advanced cooling systems that use less electricity and water. They also used energy-efficient cooling machines and air conditioners that don’t use too much energy. By using special 5-star air conditioning units, they saved up to 15% of the electricity used for cooling.
That’s not all – they also added fans in their Terminal 2 to make the air conditioning work better. These fans change how fast they spin depending on how warm it is. They even have sensors that turn the lights off when nobody is in the office areas and timers for the outdoor lights. In the bathrooms, they have water taps that use less water, and in the air conditioning, they added a special UV system to save electricity and make the air cleaner.
SVPIA wants to use technology that is good for the environment and helps save energy. Winning the Gold Award shows that they are doing a great job of making the airport more eco-friendly.
